Relentless polymath James Franco continues his quest to shame the rest of the world with a surprising (but not really) new turn as a member of experimental music group Kalup & Franco. The Yale-educated Ph.D. actor, writer, director and multiple degree-holder recently finished a stint on daytime soap 'General Hospital,' where he invited drag queen, Guggenheim fellow and soap opera satirist Kalup Linzy to perform.

After sharing the stage, the two opted to continue their collaboration and are now preparing to release their debut EP, 'Turn It Up,' on tropical bass label Dutty Artz.

The three-song EP is scheduled for release on July 12 as both a limited edition 7" vinyl and digital download. Kalup & Franco are reportedly planning to shoot video clips for each of the songs on the EP, featuring some "surprise guest cameos."
