Ja Rule will turn himself in today to begin a two-year prison sentence for his guilty plea for possession of a loaded gun four years ago. The rapper, born Jeffrey Atkins, will most likely be taken to an upstate New York facility where he hopes to put his time behind bars to good use -- completing his GED, writing a book and learning to play the guitar, according to the AP."Laws are laws," Ja Rule told 'Good Day New York.' "There's nothing I could really do but own up to the situation. You know, I try not to regret anything I do in life, because you go through life and you do things, and you man up to them. You own them."
In 2007, the actor and singer, 35, was stopped in New York for speeding in his posh Maybach before officers found a .40-caliber semiautomatic gun in his vehicle. But possession of a weapon isn't the only charge the Grammy award nominee might be facing -- he's looking at a potential added 3 years in prison for a guilty plea to tax evasion on more than $3 million of income. Ja Rule's lawyers are hoping that their famous client will be able to serve both sentences simultaneously.
