Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Donate $500,000 to Joplin Tornado Relief

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation announced a donation on Friday of $500,000 to aid recovery efforts in Joplin, Missouri, after a tornado brought death and destruction to the area last month.
"With the devastating loss of 30 percent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead," said
Brad Pitt. "Having spent much of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient."
Angelina Jolie added: "Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much."
The
Kansas City Star reports that the couple's donation will benefit the Joplin Recovery Fund.
The tornado that directly hit Joplin in May destroyed miles of the city, including a hospital, in mere minutes. The death toll has topped 150. In the aftermath, victims are now reportedly fighting a
lethal fungus stirred up by the twister.
Pitt's ties to Missouri run deep. Born in Okalahoma, Pitt was raised with his sister and brother in Springfield, Mo., attending Kickapoo High School and the University of Missouri. Pitt left the college weeks before graduating to launch an acting career in Los Angeles, where he took odd jobs and acting lessons until fame struck. The actor knows a thing or two about rebuilding after a natural disaster, ever since he became actively involved in
designing housing for hurricane-ravaged New Orleans in recent years.

It's always the Liberals that give generously to help others. The Conservatives only show up to sell stuff and make money off of diaster victims.

People who give their earned money to worthy causes should be able to do it as they see fit. Perhaps my announcing the donation they are silently challenging others with like resources to give.
And why is it anyone's business anyway?

I don't see any of the billionaire banksters helping anyone but themselves. Good on you, Mr and Mrs Pitt.

Very kind of them to do this. I am sure many other people like myself with a lot less money, gave to the Red Cross or to local charities in the state. If we all could just give whatever we can to help out people in need the job could get done. God bless the people of Joplin, MO.

And once again Brad and Angolina are patting themselves on the back. Like George Steinbrenner said, If you're doing it for the publicity, you're doing it for the wrong reason. He was a great humanitarian but no one knew it until after he died.

Very well said.
Much of their charity work is not publicized. Google is your friend, ignoramus.
Paul McCartney donates a lot of money for charity, but he does not advertise it.

Poor Claudia, still bitter over Jennifer Aniston huh? Well, Jennifer is not Rachel Green nor more than Brad and Angelina are the big bad wolves. Brad met someone who cared more about his causes and wanted children. He and Angelina have PROVEN themselves. They truly care about the world and put their money where the mouths are. Wether they remain together or not, they have given much to others and should be applauded. Get off the poor Jennifer bandwagon and move on.
