Is Oprah Winfrey Helping or Using Sarah Ferguson?

In May of last year, Sarah Ferguson was once again embroiled in scandal when she was caught attempting to sell access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. Brought to her knees financially, Fergie reached out to Oprah Winfrey. After promising the Queen of TV she would not do 'Dancing With the Stars' (and a cooking show in Australia), the cash-strapped Duchess of York agreed to do her own show, 'Finding Sarah,' on Oprah's fledgling network, OWN.

"It is one thing for Oprah to offer up Dr. Phil and Suzie Orman to help the Duchess, it's another to convince her to document the entire journey on camera," a friend of Sarah's tells me. "You have to wonder who is helping who in this situation. Is Oprah trying to help her network get viewers by exploiting Sarah or is she genuinely trying to get the Duchess help?"

The show, which premiered Sunday, follows Sarah on a six-episode docu-series offering a glimpse into her struggles to find herself, including a painful look at her past and harsh advice with Dr. Phil and Suzie Orman.

"Oprah could have offered all of this in private," one TV insider tells me. "Is it really going to help Sarah having her entire past dug up again so publicly? No way."

Plus, as people who have seen Sarah since she finished the process, she seems more vulnerable and insecure then ever before.

I totally agree with you, and if you never walked in someone's shoes, you really do not know the fit, right!
People learn by there mistakes, and it is nobel for one to take a good look into someones life, and try to make changes...
As for how the Duchess looks, we all have vulerable spots, and we all aren't perfect, it doesn't matter where you are from or whatever, what is important is, the girl is trying to find her way, as for exploits in the situation, help is not cheap, wether it is on camera, "well", you get to look into celebrities or any type of citizen and find out the long process, and long journey and hard work it takes to find oneself when they get to that state.

In the entertainment industry everybody uses everybody! The virus of Hollywood has long spread over America: get real!

Sarah Ferguson is a publicity and money junkie who has the judgement and discretion of an orangutan in heat. She has proved this on numerous occasions before, during, and after her marriage to Andrew. The only true question about Sarah Ferguson is what tasteless escapade she will involve herself in next.

This whole question is a good one. Whenever a person takes a typically private issue into the spotlight, more often than not money is the reason. So probably, this is a case of Sarah and Oprah scratching each other's backs: Sarah needs to break her patterns and bolster her bank account, and Oprah wants a hit for her network; sounds like a good match, at least business-wise. I imagine that both of these intelligent, ambitious women see the whole thing for what it is. If the venture goes well, a friendship may actually grow some hardy roots. If the whole thing bombs, Sarah will be back in her deepening hole, and Oprah will look for new show ideas. Hope for Sarah's sake this all goes well.

I agree...also, Sarah isn't a child, so she knows what she signed up for she needed what oprah was offering, it would have been great if she could have gone through this journey privately, but probably couldn't afford it. So it was a toss of the coin, it could go alright or terribly wrong. she took her chances got paid and probably got some good insight on the way. You may not like Dr phil or suze orman but they are both great at what they do.

Sarah needs to move on with her life and get a real job. She seems to enjoy being on the fringe of everyone else's life and needs to get on with her own. She can't detach herself from the cameras and the media. It's always been about HER. In any interview see how many times she says "I" "me" or "my"!!

Oprah Windbag has used her fat to make mega-millions...she has used the gullibility of her audience, and has convinced these sad people that she was actually helping them, when all her "help" has only lined her very substantial pockets....now that her "network" ratings are tanking, just like her show's ratings did, she is fully prepared to use anyone or anything to maintain the Windbag brand...you want to continue to support this phony, that is your problem...I would rather watch a faucet drip.
