Mildred Baena on Love Child: 'It Wasn't Arnie's Fault, It Takes Two'

After the story broke that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a love child with his housekeeper, Mildred Baena, she and her 13-year-old son went into hiding -- hoping to wait out the media storm that followed. But now, Baena is ready to tell her side of the story, admitting that she is just as guilty for the adulterous affair as her former boss.

But Baena, 50, didn't always know that her son, Joseph, belonged to 'The Terminator.' Although, she had her suspicions when the young boy began to resemble his Austrian father.

"It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered -- but it became more apparent as time went on," Baena told Hello! magazine. "I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as Joseph got older and began to look like him, [Arnold] wondered. But he never said anything to me."

Unfortunately it wasn't only Schwarzenegger and Baena that had suspicions that their affair could have resulted in a child. The former governor's wife, Maria Shriver, alluded to Baena that she also noticed the similarities between Joseph and his biological father, her husband.

"She would say things like, 'I'm here if you need to talk,'" Baena recalls. "Finally, she asked point blank. Maria asked me directly if Joseph was Arnold's son, and I just broke down. I dropped to my knees and I was crying, saying that yes he was and I was so sorry."

But Baena was not confronted with your average rage-filled wife, having just discovered that her husband classically cheated on her with the family's housekeeper of twenty years.

"She was so strong," Baena said. "She cried with me and told me to get off my knees. We held each other and I told her it wasn't Arnie's fault, that it takes two."

Although the news was difficult for Shriver to digest, Baena's son had a much different reaction. When she explained to him, at the age of 13, that Schwarzenegger was his biological father, Joseph simply responded, "Cool."

Shriver recognized that her heartbreak could not get in the way of doing what was best for her husband's son.

"Since I was retiring soon, I said I would pack and leave right away," Baena said of her initial thought to immediately leave the Schwarzenegger household. "But [Shriver] said to stay until after the holidays."

Taking responsibility for her role in devastating a family, Baena hopes that her former employer and lover will be able to reconcile with his wife.

Yes, it was Arnold's fault- just as much as was this "woman's" fault! She knew he was married! If he came onto her, she should have said no! I guess those marriage vows don't mean anything anymore, huh? And why, after so long of blocking out the boy's face and hiding his name, is his identity suddenly being revealed?

Not sure why she felt the need to "shoulder" some of the burden. She's the "other woman," so everybody already knows she's to blame. She knew he was the father, and she kept bringing him around Maria Shriver even after she figured it out, too. I'm sure the holidays were so much better with her husband's lover and love child at the house.

Elsewhere, it had been reported that SHE pursued HIM. Nobody who was not there will ever know the real truth; whoever initiated it, they both knew that it was an illicit affair, so they are both partly responsible.

Has anyone yet asked Maria how many NO's it took from her to Arnold before he resorted to the housekeeper? Ladies, until you understand what a man's basic inherent need is and deny it, your Husbands will stray. It's that simple.

Women take heed - it's your body and you are the one responsible for it - you take the birth control pills and or any means to regulate pregnancy - it's your body, not his. Use birth control but better still - don't sleep with married men.

He didn't. She came on to him, as she admitted earlier. If you're just starting to follow this you should do some research. There is no excuse for either of them, none. But there is no doubt that women will forever try with futility to change the nature of man.

well he do not looked nothing like arnold ,she just wants to be monetary secure that is the only thing that she wanted she saw the opportunity she went for it ,what about the dna did they had one she knew what she was doing she was goin for the money hate these types of women that want to lived life the easy way not like myself sacrifying myself for my kids working hard and Iam very proud of myself because i made it and did not use my body

This is in reply to "John" who said pretty much it is Maria's fault because she denied AH-NOLD's basic needs by saying no.... She must have said YES at least once at the same time because his kid with the maid was born only a few days apart from his and Maria's. Plus, how else do you think they got all those kids?? Osmosis?

For ladies like her of course the marriage vows don't mean any thing when money is involved, she will get much money for many years to ome and I beleive this was her plan all along, it is always money with these kind of actions and these kind of ladies,so sad for her husband but all she could see was dollar signs when she looked at him

What's really sad is not only is Arnold an idiot but not using protection is another of Arnold's hang ups. So how many kids are out there that belong to him and how many diseases did Arnold happen to give Maria.....and others? It never mattered if Maria gave it to him every day....Arnold has and always will be the man who lives on the rock's edge and sees something he wants he goes for it, just like at his party. Again, Hollywood big wigs gave him the party and now their wives are suspicious too. The Hollywood big shots all think they are save with their secrets, but they are so wrong. Now Arnold has all of Hollywood scared as what else will pop up?
