Teen Mom Amber Portwood in Hospital After Suicide Threat

After threatening to commit suicide, '16 and Pregnant' star, Amber Portwood, has been rushed to an Anderson, Indiana hospital, according to Radar Online. The 21-year-old teen mom was found by police in her home on Tuesday afternoon in an extremely depressive state.

Earlier, the mother of two-year-old daughter, Leah, had a disturbing phone conversation with the father of her daughter, Gary Shirley. Upon hanging up with his on-off girlfriend, Shirley advised a relative of Portwood to go to the MTV reality star's home to check on her. Instead, the relative alerted authorities to Portwood's potentially suicidal state and soon after, police arrived at her residence.

According to a statement, "Late this morning (11:34 a.m.), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Drive. According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L. Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation."

But a source relayed to Radar that Portwood's state was a bit more dire.

"Two policemen arrived, found her face-up on the couch and immediately called for an ambulance," the source said. "When two EMT workers arrived, they removed the rope that Amber had loosely knotted around her neck. They tried speaking with her, but she was in and out of consciousness and couldn't respond; she was just moaning. They gave her an oxygen mask, put her on a gurney, and rushed her to the hospital."

Portwood's suicide threats comes on the heels of a difficult year for the reality star. After being caught by MTV cameras physically abusing baby daddy, Shirley, just last week Portwood plead guilty to domestic battery charges. She also temporarily lost custody of her young daughter in early May.

Although Portwood is still at the medical facility, she is reportedly conscious and stable.

PUH-LEEZE!! Seriously? Is she too stupid to figure out that lying on a couch is not going to work if you are trying to HANG yourself? Idiot!! Those pills were probably chewable vitamins or something equally as benign. This is just another attempt to gain the spotlight or sympathy. She is useless. The real victim is that poor child of hers.

actually if you watched season 1 (before they were famous) she had been clinically diagnosed depressed. her pschiatrist provided her anti-depressent pills. she has had depression after her baby was born and i believe her daughter to be 2 so she has had depression for 2 years. the doctor i believe stated that mood swing were a part of her depression so thats probably why she pulls all these stunt. coupled with the fact that her father is dying from lung cancer, its hard not to believe her suicide attempt.

IMHaO if she can't take her meds and help herself and has no self control etc because she is depressed...TAKE HER KID away from her and let her trainwreck her own life BUT she does not need to wreak havoc on her child. She will be forgotten in 3 years or less and still be saying I was on teen mom @ 40...get over it, go to school, go to work and make a life!! I am done with these idiots.

I think thats very rude of all of you to judge what the media puts onto these young girls. I personally have issues with anxiety and depression, i can relate to her in alot of ways. Its very hard to deal with both and she probably hasn't figured out how to yet. How dare you say she doesnt' know how to hang herself?! Really? Maybe she felt so alone and that she felt hopeless but didnt want to go through with it because she was scared. And im glad she didnt. She should be able to raise her child liek every mother should. Noone is perfect and the media is just glorifying her bad moments. Its unfortunate.

This is more for attention then anything and it now shows her lack of caring for her child and her mental instability. She should nnow loose full custody of her kid as she is a danger to her child. if she is allowed to have the kid back i guess we wait for the story where she drives into a lake and kills the kid but lives. Mtv has gone so far away from what they were and its a shame they are allowed to be on the air anymore.

If you have taxpayers pay for your abortion...you should have mandatory sterililzation should you need a 2nd and definitely a 3rd. Abortion is a serious issue not to be taken lightly and with all the birthcontrol available and SAFE sex..IE if you are on the pill or depro USE a CONDOM anyways cause there are worse things than getting pregnant like HIV, HEP C, Herpes...that stuff can doesn't go away and can kill you!
