Teen Mom Amber Portwood in Hospital After Suicide Threat

After threatening to commit suicide, '16 and Pregnant' star, Amber Portwood, has been rushed to an Anderson, Indiana hospital, according to Radar Online. The 21-year-old teen mom was found by police in her home on Tuesday afternoon in an extremely depressive state.

Earlier, the mother of two-year-old daughter, Leah, had a disturbing phone conversation with the father of her daughter, Gary Shirley. Upon hanging up with his on-off girlfriend, Shirley advised a relative of Portwood to go to the MTV reality star's home to check on her. Instead, the relative alerted authorities to Portwood's potentially suicidal state and soon after, police arrived at her residence.

According to a statement, "Late this morning (11:34 a.m.), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Drive. According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L. Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation."

But a source relayed to Radar that Portwood's state was a bit more dire.

"Two policemen arrived, found her face-up on the couch and immediately called for an ambulance," the source said. "When two EMT workers arrived, they removed the rope that Amber had loosely knotted around her neck. They tried speaking with her, but she was in and out of consciousness and couldn't respond; she was just moaning. They gave her an oxygen mask, put her on a gurney, and rushed her to the hospital."

Portwood's suicide threats comes on the heels of a difficult year for the reality star. After being caught by MTV cameras physically abusing baby daddy, Shirley, just last week Portwood plead guilty to domestic battery charges. She also temporarily lost custody of her young daughter in early May.

Although Portwood is still at the medical facility, she is reportedly conscious and stable.

I never did like her. I think its all attention seeking. But if she didnt do it just for attention then she really needs help! She needs to be there for her daughter.

Bad examples for the rest of our teen age girls, and how sad that the world is privy to everything that goes on...
These shows should be outlawed!

It is very sad that these teens think having a baby and being on tv makes them seem grown up. She is an abusive person and needs help to learn to deal with and control her temper. I feel bad for her daughter having to see and here the fights between her parents. We have seen Garys mom helping him but where is her family? I would not stand by and watch my daghter act the way she does and put my grandchild at risk.

The most and only important person in this mess is that beautiful baby girl, she is growing up with wackado parents, I hope that shot is available asap. for men that once they get it it will prevent men from having off springs as long as 10 yrs. There are just to many left over sperm droplets running around being uncared for. Since the women seem to be forgetting the birth control time for the Men to step up to the plate. PLEASE!

These are the most ignorant thins I've ever heard! First off, the baby is BEAUTIFUL and will be later on, Gary( her daughters father) might be big physically but is an even bigger man in personality! A lot of women would love to have a man like him in their lives and maybe shes doing it for attention maybe not but wth does the way her daughters father look have to do with ANYTHING??!!!

And so what if hes not a calendar model! How many AVERAGE guys/girls are?j From what I saw on the show, hes a GREAT dad and he is still cute regardless so ugh STFU!

She needs mental help- whether she really IS mental or just trying to gain more attention in this way.

I feel really bad for the baby- the baby needs to be a in a stable environment and this certainly isnt it.

Baby daddy? I hate that term... sounds so ghetto to me.
