Actress and former model Estella Warren has checked into a residential treatment center and is wearing an alcohol-detecting SCRAM bracelet, her lawyer told PEOPLE on Friday. Warren was charged last week with DUI, hit-and-run, battery on an officer and resisting an officer in relation to her arrest last month.

"She wants to prove she isn't drinking," her attorney Darren Kavinoky said. "She's committed to making the situation right and moving on in a way that's appropriate."

"This scenario can be the catalyst for significant change," Kavinoky added. "Estella's attitude towards this whole thing is awesome. She's more than accepting. She's embracing the personal opportunities that have come from this."

According to TMZ, a police officer witnessed the 'Planet of the Apes' actress slam a Toyota Prius into three parked cars and drive away. After she was pulled over, she allegedly resisted arrest and kicked a police officer.
