Joe Francis Says Reese 'Showed Her Age' By Bashing Reality TV, Sex Tapes

'Girl's Gone Wild' guru Joe Francis has said he's 90% sure that 'Gossip Girl' Blake Lively leaked those nude pictures of herself to boost her profile, which he argues has worked. Now he tells me that his pal Reese Witherspoon was wrong to say on live television that young ladies in Hollywood don't need to do reality shows, sex tapes or, in Blake's case, let naked pics of yourself get leaked.

"Let me preface that Reese Witherspoon is a friend of mine but I just think that Reese needs to rethink what she said," Joe said on my HDNet show 'Naughty But Nice' this week. "She said this on MTV, a network that has 'Jersey Shore,' '16 and Pregnant' ... There's nothing on the network that isn't reality television."

At the MTV Movie Awards, Reese took on the role of preacher: "I know it's cool to be bad, I get it ... but it's also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show. When I came up in this business you made a sex tape and you were embarrassed and hid it under your bed and like, if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hid your face."

But Joe, who knows a thing or three about mixing reality with sex, flat-out believes Reese is "showing her age by making those comments. Reese, I'm sorry, I love you, but ..."

Joe points out that Reese doesn't need to do these things (tapes, pics, reality) because she's, well, Reese Witherspoon. Who should sex it up? "Anybody who's not Reese Witherspoon," Joe joked.

"Who's heard of Blake Lively outside of Gossip Girl?" Joe asks me about the young actress that many believe has recently shown up in naked pictures. "That catapults you into the main stream now. Once you have a sex tape, you become a sex symbol. That's what catapults a star into that ... look at Marilyn Monroe. Had she never done that Playboy cover, we wouldn't be talking about her right now."

So why would Blake deny it, like she's done so far? "Because it creates controversy," Joe explains. "If it looks like she did it, then no one cares. There's no story."

You said it! I love that Reese made this speech during the MTV movie awards-- that's what made it so awesome. Joe needs to realize that just because he's made a life for himself at the lowest possible level, he should not be giving people like Reese Witherspoon advice. But if I contract an STD, he is the first person I'd call.

I like the Reese speach at the MTV movie awards few weeks ago it was pretty only thing I didn't agree with was that you don't need a reality show I like reality shows what can I say.

So called "reality shows" are the worsst thing that could have happened to television. Nothing is more mind numbing to me. When they talk about the dumbing down of America I have to think that reality shows contribute to that stupidity. My point, by the way, is that Witherspoon is right.

I find it hard to believe Reese is friends in real life with this dirt bag. Even "D" list celebs want nothing to do with Joe Francis anymore. The Kardashians are about the only friends he has left in Hollywood, and even their step-brother Brody Jenner hates Joe's guts.

The pictures in playboy he was talking about was not taken by playboy. They were taken many many years earlier and the photos were bought by playboy. Also she was already famous when the photos came out in '53 so she didn't pose for playboy just to up her career. And actually Yes we would still be talking about Marilyn Monroe even if she wasn't in the first issue of playboy because those pictures are not what made her famous. They didn't kill her career but they are NOT what made her!

I suppose Blake could have leaked the pics of herself, but I don't see why she would have needed to at this point in time. She had been increasingly featured in many of the gossip rags and more importantly, had been chosen to do the Chanel fashion campaign with an international audience. She was already way beyond Gossip Girl, why leak photos?
