Kara DioGuardi to Make Broadway Debut

Former 'American Idol' star Kara DioGuardi, who
left the series last fall after two seasons on the judging panel, is getting ready to razzle-dazzle New York theater-goers on the Great White Way.
DioGuardi will join the Broadway cast of 'Chicago,' taking over the starring role of Roxie Hart from Christie Brinkley (
Renee Zellweger won a Golden Globe for playing the homicidal attention-hound on screen in 2002).
The 'Idol' vet's eight-week stint in the long-running hit musical begins Sept. 5. She
tweeted about the thrill of her latest venture: "I'm beyond excited."
DioGuardi, 40, is currently on the panel of experts of Bravo's songwriting competition, 'Platinum Hit.' Raised in the suburbs of New York City, she pursued fame as a rock star before finding success as a songwriter for pop artists.
Now, she'll test out her dancing and acting chops with Broadway audiences, which have generally been very receptive to 'Idol' alumni, including Fantasia Barrino, Diana DeGarmo, Tamyra Gray and Constantine Maroulis.
At the same time, one of DioGuardi's collaborators in the studio, 'Idol' runner-up Katharine McPhee, will star next season on a
new TV show about (fictional) rising stars on Broadway. Will DioGuardi be embraced as a Broadway headliner in real life this fall?
Exposing her talent onstage in front of a live audience eight times a week may just be a piece of cake, after DioGuardi exposed herself in a
naked photo shoot for Allure magazine last year. Of the experience, the TV star said, "This shoot was less about beauty than about taking a risk and showing people a side of me they have never seen."

She is best known for writing and producing songs for Pink, Christina Aguilerra and Britney Spears...she is far from a has been and has a beautiful voice...good luck on Broadway...don't be a hater, Hanna.
You are right, but she is sooooooooo hot!
It's too bad the writer of this article barely mentioned what Kara is most famous for...writing and producing songs for artists such as Pink, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. She has so much more talent than she is given credit for...unfortunately, people only seem to know her from Idol...good luck on Broadway Kara, you have a wonderful voice as well.
