Amy Winehouse Botches Concert, Cancels European Tour Dates (Video)

Amy Winehouse arrived in Belgrade to launch a comeback tour this weekend, and proceeded to slur and sway through an anemic performance one Serbian publication called "the worst" concert that locals have ever seen. Tickets were considered exorbitant in a region where citizens earn some of the lowest wages in Europe.

A backup singer took over lead vocals on songs she was struggling with, and boos from the Belgrade audience were widely reported. At one point, the BBC says Winehouse threw her mic to the floor, when she wasn't mumbling lyrics. On video, seen after the jump, she's seen resting on equipment and wandering the large stage.

The troubled singer, 27, was in and out of rehab recently, in advance of her tour. But now, her rep says Monday's gig in Istanbul and Wednesday's concert in Athens have been scrapped because "she cannot perform to the best of her ability" and feels "this is the right thing to do." Her tour will resume July 8 in Spain.

Tabloids in the U.K. reported last month that doctors treating Winehouse for her longtime addiction to alchohol are sounding the alarm, emphasizing the urgent need for her to sober up after years of substance abuse. "It's the last chance saloon for Amy," said a source. "Doctors have come down hard on her because of the severity of her situation. It's a harsh reality, but she had to hear it."

Poor Amy. I feel she needs prayer not ridicule. I really liked her music and voice at one time. Seems like Adele picked up where she left off.

What she needs is a LOT of tough love, about a year in a really good rehab center, and no more friends & family who are enablers.

It's just a shame that we continue to showcase these kinds of behaviors as there are so many other artists out there that are just the opposite of this artist...what is seen in this type of behavior is beyond me...she diffinately has a bad problem and nothing has worked so far and that is the sad part or this story...but she does not warrant all this attention for her bad behaviors and habits...

You're absolutely right--time to start ignoring bad behavior rather than giving it so much attention that others try to emulate it. A drug abuser isn't worth glorifying even if she had any talent.

REALLY sad 2 C her in this condition. Historically entertainers are considered the most dysfunctional people in the business. I just hope that someway,something(because noone but her can kick these demons),will get her back on track SOON and not a tour in a coffin!

It is never pretty to watch a human being self-destruct before your eyes. But we see it over and over again with Amy Winehouse. She is obviously drunk, stoned or both here. You can barely understand what she's saying. And once she tossed the microphone off the stage, you can tell this performance had "disaster" written all over it. She has only made two albums so far. At the rate things are going, she may not produce a third album.
