'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn, 34, Dies in Car Crash

'Jackass' star Ryan Dunn died early Monday in a Pennsylvania car crash, police confirmed. April Margera, the mother of a fellow 'Jackass' dare devil, Bam Margera, told a local radio station and later
TMZ that Dunn was killed in the car wreck that also left one other, who has yet to be identified, dead. He was 34.
"Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn," said 'Jackass' boss Johnny Knoxville in a statement. "My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan , I love you buddy."
The Morning Freak Show on 96.1 is reporting that Dunn was at the wheel when his 2007 Porsche careened over the road's guardrail and into the woods before bursting into flames. The collision occurred at roughly 3:00 AM Monday morning on Pennsylvania's Route 322.
"Ryan was a wonderful person he really was the sweetest and nicest guy -- he was like my extra son, everybody loved him," April Margera told
Radar Online.
Margera has not been able to reach her son, one of Dunn's best friends, as he is currently traveling in Arizona. She also mentioned that Dunn's longtime girlfriend is not taking any calls and has turned off her phone.
A photo of the charred wreckage was posted on Twitter, apparently by the towing company. They were quickly taken down but uploaded on
Flickr. The images show the extent of the fire that engulfed the vehicle.
Just hours before his death, Dunn
tweeted a photo of himself and two pals -- documenting their night out, beer and cigarette in hand.
Although it has not yet been officially confirmed who was driving when it crashed or the cause of the accident, Chief Deputy Coroner David Garner told Chester County's
Daily Local News that there was only one vehicle involved in the crash.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident," police said in a
press release. At this time, the report also categorizes the incident as an 'Auto Accident' rather than a 'DUI.'
Both bodies suffered severe burns in the wreck, and emergency responders could not immediately identify them, but police have confirmed that one of the victims was Dunn. The identity of Dunn's passenger will be revealed pending autopsy results due out later today.
In between projects with 'Jackass,' the fun-loving stuntman appeared regularly in spin-offs like 'Viva La Bam' and 'Bam's Unholy Union,' later launching his own MTV show, 'Home Wrecker' and appearing in films such as 'Haggard' and 'A Halfway House Christmas.'

Prayers ? What verifiable evidence is there that Prayer works ?
It's a ridiculous thing to say since you can't prove there's anything to pray to.....
Such a shame. So sad he was a nice young guy doing what he loved. Being killed in a car wreck is just unbelievably sad. Prayers to his family and especially to him. Rest In Peace!
Mark~ Your I suppose the type who has never done anything IDIOT! Dont write crap about someone who has died in a fatal accident. Its people like you who everyone hates!

I have to laugh, it went from his lifestyle being the contributing factor, to drinking and driving being the factor, to alcoholism??? WTH is wrong with you morbid illiterate people? I read the story and all that was explained was that a pic of him and friends that showed a beer and a cigarette. Tell me where it said he was holding the beer? How do you know he was not designated as the driver and did not drink while his friends did? or maybe it was just one beer hours before getting behind the wheel.... what ever but none the less the story says EXCESSIVE SPEED seems to be the contributing factor. NO WHERE DID IT SAY IT WAS ALCOHOL. Geez if you are so unhappy with your life go climb back under your rock and die there but a young man with a great personality died as well as someone else and that should be the story not how to point condescending fingers with a holier than thou attitude. GOD SPEED RYAN and thanks for the enjoyment you brought to so many!

So well put. No one knows exactly what happened yet. There will be an investigation into what caused the events to happen. There is nothing that says 100% Ryan was driving and that he was drunk. It very well could've been that the other person was driving not saying its so but its a possibility. To say such harsh things about the loss of two lives is absolutly unbelievable. To the family and friends of both people in the car im so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to loss someone at an early age. Not the same situation with a car accident but still alot of pain. What the family and friends need to take from this tragic situation is that time will not heal all wounds but time will make the wounds more bareable. And the people out there placing blame on Ryan are all leaping to soon. Wait until you know the truth in what happened and not make what little info you have into the absolute truth!
yup. sad. He might have made a mistake, but it is still sad to see a life snuffed out too early. I'm sad thinking of his family and friends and the grief they are going through. I'm sad that i won't be able to laugh at his unique brand of humor anymore. It's even sad if he was drinking and driving. We all make mistakes, don't troll and pretend that you aren't a human that makes mistakes everyday.

The other person was dumb enough to get in the vehicle with someone that was drinking, it's not all Ryan's fault that the other guy died too. Sad situation that happens all to much, it's just cause he was famous that it's in the media for people to feast on. What about the people in the same town as you that drives home drunk from the bar every night and sometimes has people with him...He should be arrested for attepted murder, right???

Ryan, you will be missed by millions. Truly a nice guy. One thing I hope for, is that when you get to heaven, God won't take over "pranking", until Steve-O get there. R.I.P

Best parental advice I ever got: Nothing good happens after midnight. Of course I don't follow that advice. My motto is: Don't do anything stupid unless it's on video. So he lost his life on a stunt that wasn't on camera?! Shame. RIP.

Alexander-you really need to get a life. That is sad especially if he was your one and only inspiration in life? Did you really know him? or were you just fanatic over him? ANYONE who looks at this guy and doesn't see that there was something inherently wrong with what he did, seek help. You all just liked to watch in the hopes that something terrible would happen-admit it.
so sad...his buddy & family will be in our prayers. my family lost my almost 36 yr-old brother in a one car tragedy at 3:30am on march 18th of this year. the tox screen was negative, but that doesnt bring him back to his 10 yr-old son, his parents, siblings and friends. those that leave crude remarks about ryan's death are heartless and probably don't have much regard for human life. i am truly saddened by the loss of this wonderful man. Ry, you will be missed!

Sorry, can't say i feel bad for him. He could have hit someone and taken their life instead of his own. I was plowed into by a drunk driver and i will never forget what that felt like. You get what you give i suppose.
