Since the premiere of Hilton's new reality show, 'The World According to Paris,' the pair's turbulent relationship has been broadcast on the small screen as Waits has voiced his distaste for the world of reality TV.

"They are broken up," a source close to the couple told Us magazine. "It's sad, she cares about him a lot and thinks he's a great guy but they really hit a rough patch."

The Vegas club owner's young daughter became a major factor in the couple's demise -- Waits was trying to keep his child from the media attention that Hilton's reality show only magnified.

"[Waits] found it difficult to live his life with her in the spotlight and that's what caused their split," the source continued. "No drama, it's amicable, but things didn't work out."
