Drew Lachey: Nick and Vanessa's Wedding 'Could Be Any Day Now'

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minillo are busy planning their wedding, but no one, and that includes Nick's brother and Best Man Drew, are privy to any of the details including the date.

"We have been told to expect a phone call and expect to jump on a plane," Drew told me backstage recently at 'New York Live' where we were both appearing as guests. "It could be any day now so we are all ready."

But before Nick can surprise Drew and family with last-second wedding plans, he told Celebuzz's Amber James this week that he has a surprise for his bro as well ... a bachelor party. "It won't be over-the-top, but Nick is nervous about what we have in store," he said.

Vanessa, who enjoyed her bachelorette party this past weekend in Vegas at Lavo with four friends, says planning the special day has been "a breeze," with the two of them agreeing on almost every decision. That's very different from Nick's last wedding, to Jessica Simpson.

"No over-bearing father-in-law is involved this time," a friend of the couple's tells me, presumably referring to Papa Joe. "There has been no discussion of selling pictures to the highest bidder or anything like that. This time the only thing Nick has to focus on is [Vanessa]."

Nick shouldn't expect to spend too much time at home with his wife after they say 'I Do.' Drew tells me he would love to get together with his brother and the guys for a 98 Degrees reunion tour as long as no-one refers to them as a boy-band any more.

"We are now all men!" he announced to me.

I'm on board. Just look at the successful union of the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys (NKOTBSB). Let's see ... *NSYNC Degrees? Boyz II Degrees? 98-Town? Color 98 Badd?

Ouch! What a nasty swipe that Drew Lachey made at the spike and slick haired Joe Simpson, that overbearing father of Nick Lachey's former marriage to Jessica Simpson! Joe was annoying, always with them at awards show functions and not letting them have alone or private time together. Even on their Nick and Jessica MTV show. I'm sure that Drew was also getting tired of it too with Joe's overbearing. Fortunately, Nick and Vanessa's parents are mostly private and don't want to be in the spotlight.
