Joss Stone has a new album coming out July 26 called 'LP1,' but unfortunately she's been in the news this week for something rather disturbing and unsavory. Two men were arrested outside her home for allegedly plotting to rob and kidnap the vivacious 24-year-old singer. Although she was instructed not to discuss details by the police, Stone did tell us that she's "fine" and sounded rather blase about the whole thing. She also spoke to us about working with Dave Stewart, going to the Royal Wedding and her (no joke) side gig baking cupcakes for her local post office to sell. They've been giving me half the profits which I find quite friendly," she says.
Tell me about your new album.
I had lots of fun making it with Dave. We went to Nashville for like six days and at that end of that jam we found an album in there which is quite cool.
It only took six days?!
Yeah it's because the bad was so tight and the studio was so brilliant. They had so many people in there making sure everything was sorted, so many brilliant people involved. Dave was like, 'Look come over here, it will take a week, we'll have a laugh. If you don't like it you don't have to use it. This band is great, I've worked with them, they've got a week free,' and I was like that sounds like fun.

Were you intimidated working with Dave Stewart? I'm sure you grew up with the Eurythmics.
I know but no because I've known Dave for ages now but I did at first. I first met Dave when I was 16 and I was pretty much intimidated by everything. I listened to Annie Lennox all the time. My mum and dad listened to her all the time, they have good taste luckily. So yeah with Dave it was like, 'Oh my God you did that record? Wow, that's amazing.'
You sing barefoot. Do you get a lot of pedicures?
I haven't done for ages because I've been chilling at home but I love pedicures. Basically when I'm on tour I have to walk on these disgusting stages, well I don't have to, I choose to and I always give myself one at the end, I have a bucket of hot water and I just soak my feet. I don't really like to wear shoes because I get nervous I'm going to fall.
You could wear ballet flats.
I could do, that's true. Seriously when you're in the middle of a song and you can't think of anything but that emotion and then you have to worry where the wires are on the floor and the mike and I trip and fall. Imagine if I had shoes on, I'd have broken my neck by now. I'm a liability I tell you.
You went to the Royal Wedding.
I did, that was fun.
Who are you friends with?
Prince William. I haven't met Kate. I've done a lot of things for their charity and their Dad's. You meet William and Harry as you go along, they had me sing at their Mum's thing which was really, really nice. They're just lovely, they're just really friendly, funny, lovely guys. I was quite flattered actually to be invited.
You're not touring.
No, there's all kinds of things I've got to do. I've got to paint my house, got to bake, sort out my life.
Paint your house?
I have to, otherwise it'll be white forever.
You know you can hire people for that.
What's the point of decorating then? That's the fun bit.
And baking. Do you have a side business we don't know about?
Actually I give them to the post office and they sell them.
Bullsh*t!
No, not bullsh*t! (Laughs) And they've been giving me half the profits which I find quite friendly.
So if I go to buy stamps at your local post office I can pick up a Joss Stone cake?
Sometimes, if I've been home then, yeah. I go through my book and I make all these different fun things, there's loads of different cupcakes you can do and cookies and little cakes. It's just nice to come home and focus on something you're doing just for fun and other people get joy out of. Making music is very similar because you're making it for people to love, to listen to and get joy out of but it's so much more serious and emotional whereas I can come home and paint my bathroom or bake a cake and it's actually not that serious at all. If I get it wrong I chuck it in the bin or I paint over it. It's really not that deep so for me it's a little bit of therapy.
I know you can't talk about what happened, but are you alright?
Oh I'm fine, thank you though, that's very sweet. They didn't manage it so it's all good.
She sounds like such a sweet sweet person; the kind you could be pals with. I wish her the best of luck and will definitely check out the new album. I'd love to see more of her acting too :) Also, those must be some incredible cupcakes.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
