Ryan Dunn at Double the Legal Alcohol Limit at Time of Crash

After much speculation, it has been confirmed that Ryan Dunn was intoxicated when he
drove his Porsche off of a Pennsylvania road at
130 MPH Monday morning, killing himself and his passenger,
Zachary Hartwell.
After an autopsy and toxicology reports were conducted, it was concluded that Dunn had the legal alcohol limit nearly doubled. His blood alcohol level was .196 while the legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08, according to
TMZ.
Dunn reportedly consumed at least three beers and a number of shots -- one round of drinks which he documented in a photo he posted to his Tumblr account just hours before his death.
But according to West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."
Both Dunn and Hartwell were killed instantly by blunt force head trauma upon impact, before their vehicle burst into flames.
"I've never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was even before it caught on fire," Carroll said previously. "The automobile actually came apart. It was unbelievable and I've been on a lot of fatal accident scenes. This is by far the worse I've seen."
Dunn's colleagues and friends, including Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O, have been showing their love for the fallen jokester and stunt man, remembering the kind and comedic member of the 'Jackass' family.

Not sure if drinking was a HUGE factor. If any of us were going 130 mph down a road with a turn, drunk or sober we would most likley be dead as well....................

Sober and with some driving ability, no. He was driving one of the greatest sports car in the world, the 911 GT3. He probably got up to speed, swerved and braked at the same time, and the rear came round on him.
It's a shame, but hey. You can't play around with those cars. Drive them right and they're wonderful, screw around and they'll bite you, like what happened here.
Has no one else noticed that the wording of this article is all wrong? .197 is not "nearly double the legal limit of .08." In fact, .16 would be double, so .197 is nearly 2 1/2 times the legal limit. Guess math wasn't this writer's major. Not sure journalism was either.

Joe, yes Mr. Dunn is to blame but those who got into a car with someone twice the legal limit, in a high powdered car are making decisions that put them unfortunatly in harms way. Although I agree he was reckless, getting in a car with him was just as reckless.
Noone should be sued! Both were grown men and both made the choice to get into the car. Unfortantly there might be family members that have to pay for their mistake. If my ride home has been drinking....better believe I am making another phone call.
Calling this buffoon a star is the ultimate idiotic characterization of a drunken, wanna be daredevil by the equally idiotic printarazzi

Don't blame the bar. These were grown men who weren't forced to drink and one got behind the wheel of a very powerful car and acted recklessly. Thank God innocent people or children weren't hurt or killed. It's a shame that in today's society drinking and driving is accepted..... until it hurts or kills someone you love. Too young, too soon, too sad.

Oh yes the bar is responsible too. Their bartenders did not cut them off. That is part of their job, because those buzzed or drunk can not make that choice, they're too drunk. When a business allows people to get totally wasted and we have all seen it happen, those serving and the owners should be held accountable.
I'd love to see where you have test anyone leaving a building that allows drinking. You should have to hand over your keys too. We have too many self centered drunks in this world. Many people with dui have been caught before and still do it. It's time to be our brother's keeper!
Untrue. In most states, bars have the legal obligation to refuse to serve alcohol to anyone who is believed to have had enough.
Thankfully [at 130 mph] he didn't rearend a couple of stoners doin' 40.

Dunn had the legal alcohol limit nearly doubled. His blood alcohol level was .196 while the legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08 .08x2=.160 and .196 is nearly double ? ?

What always gets me, is why do drunk drivers drive so fast....any time i drove behind the wheel while slightly buzz I've always drove super slow and more caution then If I was sober....SMH Drink less and smoke more pot, you'll live longer and be more happy.

He was more than twice the legal limit, not almost twice the legal limit. .08 + .08 = .16 < .19
Too bad he killed someone other than himself.
