Friend: George Clooney Dumped Elisabetta Canalis

The celebrity world was shocked when news hit that George Clooney and longtime girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis split up--but no one may have been as surprised as Canalis herself!

One of the model's close friends, Chi magazine editor Alfonso Signorini, opened up about the couple's relationship and breakup.

"It's all over," Signorini said on Italian TV show 'Rai Uno' Thursday [via UsMagazine.com.] "It has come as a real surprise to me. They were getting on really well."

Just last week, the editor spent the day with Canalis and things appeared fine. "She must have had about 60 text messages from George! She was so excited about meeting him as he had a few days off from shooting his film in London," he recalled.

As for the split, he revealed: "From what I know it was him who dumped her and she stormed out of the villa. I've tried to get her on the telephone but it's switched off."

Signorini also got more in depth about Clooney and Canalis's love story. "I can tell you it was all for real. They were deeply affectionate towards each other, " he said. But, it clearly wasn't perfect: "[Clooney] is actually very fatherly but at the same time they did have a very complicated relationship...It's not easy to be with a star of that caliber," Signorini added.

I guess you all know George Clooney well to say he is gay because he doesn't get married. He is good looking, was married once and did not like marriage, so if he is gay there are a lot of men who feel the same way he does, so I guess a lot of the population men and women alike are all homosexual if they go out with the opposite sex but never marry.
She was getting too serious and he is not like certain other couples who go together, have a brood of kids and do not get married either. Which is better populating the world or just having fun with no marriage and no kids.

I think Clooney should stop dating women who want to have love and a family and that's true for many young women who go with a man for more than a few months. He has made it clear that he does not want to remarry. Older women may be willing to have that kind of relationship, especially if they have already been there and done that. Of course, he wants the young hotties.

Actually It's women who should stop dating him if they want to get married and have a family. It's not like the man hasn't been saying FOR YEARS he does not want marriage. He was saying this before he got involved with this woman, and he even said it a few times in interviews while they were together. She probably thought she would be "The One" to change is mind but the joke was one her. If she wanted marriage and family, she should have stayed well clear of this guy.

I hope most people know this cad already has one marriage to his name. He was married for a few years to Talia Balsam (Martin's daughter). Marriage ended in 1993. She went on to a happy union and is now a parent. This most-recent girlfriend was in the picture for less than a year. The guy likes to play women. I doubt he is gay but lots of men just like being single. Not everyone wants to be married or a parent. He likes his life the way it is. The women are just plain stupid. Once a stupid woman shacks up with any man it is only a matter of time before the union fizzles. Stupid, stupid, women. Just the way many men like them. A man is not going to love a woman just because she shacks up with him.

George Clooney has no children. One previous marriage but no children. He is happy to be single but he leads women on which is not good. By now all women should know he is not getting married to anyone.

If George isn't interested in marriage or children, that's his choice and more power to him! No doubt there are many beautiful women out there who'd love to be on his arm..but they need to accept that's the end of it. The guy works, does his part for charity, and enjoys life...why is that a crime? Plus, he doesn't have to be concerned about alimony/loosing half of his stuff!! He's still nice on the eyes, which is fine with me.

Clooney is a scab on an infected sore. Some of us cannot forget what he said about Charlton Heston on the diagnosis of Altzheimers. He said Charlton deserves it. What an animal! He should have been sentenced to one year of caregiving for those poor diseased folks. Let's see what KARMA has in store for him in his later years. Suck it up, Clooney!
