Debbie Gibson Defends Britney Against Moby Attack

When Moby recently told
Spinner that Britney Spears and Ke$ha don't make "music" but rather "advertising for ringtones," no one came to the pop stars' defense. But now the original pop princess, Debbie Gibson, tells me Moby should zip it and stop taking himself so seriously.
"He should pick on someone his own size," Debbie tells me, joking about the diminutive Moby. "First of all, for any artist to slam any artist, I think is wrong, because art is subjective, you know? I can look at a painting and think it's the most beautiful thing and someone else can go, 'It looks like a 3-year-old made that!'"
Her main take-away on Moby's comments are that he just needs to lighten up. "That's just somebody taking themselves way too seriously," she told me.
Debbie who is about to hit the road with ex-rival Tiffany admires artists like Britney and even thinks it was probably a good decision on her part to be so sexual-ized at such an early age.
"There's something that's a little smart that they come out as sexual creatures at 15, because they don't ever have that awkward transition," Deb explains. "I'll never forget ... I got hate mail because I wore black in a video. But people wanted to keep me in bright colors and denim my entire life."
You can get tickets to see Debbie and Tiffany at
Deborah-Gibson.com and if you go, expect to hear their hits as well as songs that inspired them when they were both conquering the charts.
Debbie even wanted to send a personal invite to Moby himself. "Moby, come to the show because I guarantee that you have never seen me live and you don't really know what I do. So come to the show and let me know what you think."
For my complete interview with Debbie (as well as Steve-O, see below clip), tune into 'Naughty But Nice' exclusively on HDNet at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Who really gives a s@*t what Moby has to say. He's about a weak, pathetic musician, anyway. How do people like that get signed to a label.... furthermore, what kind of un-artistic ignoramuses would buy his poorly played-poorly sang garbage. It's time for a musical revolution! Notice to music providers: Stop serving up sonic garbage.. (that includes Britney's lame, lip synching garbage too)

By the way, Britney is live for approx 40% of her current tour and getting strong reviews. I realize 40% is not 100% or in the same ball park as some performers out there--but it makes it a little harder to call her lip synching garbage. And oh yeah-- she is freaking hot.
Are you kidding? Moby is one of the greatest producers around (get that: he produces his own music, Britney does not - she's a puppet for people who make music and songs FOR her. An entertainer, nothing more). However, both still do play to huge sold out concerts. What have you done?
Hahaha. Moby.
You don't hear Britney bad mouthing people.
Moby is clearly out of bounds--gee, he has made music with Britney. Off of "In the Zone" and "The Remix", "Early Mornin'" is the song and it is good. Kind of funny to be rude and down on someone you collaborated with and released music with. I like Moby but get real dude.
