It certainly has been a groundbreaking yet nail biting week for marriage equality in New York as same-sex marriage advocates have come within one Republican Senate vote to pass the marriage equality bill -- although the vote still has yet to take place.
But the hesitation to bring the bill to a vote -- on behalf of Republicans -- is not for the lack of trying and persuasion from our favorite LGBT supporting celebrities.
"I'd sure love to get married," Neil Patrick Harris tweeted Friday evening. "Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today. My family would really appreciate it."
Celebrities Push to Pass Marriage Equality Bill in New York

The LGBT community's resident mother monster, Lady Gaga, has also been fervently tweeting about the potential passing of the bill and urging her fans to call their local senators and ask them to vote yes to legalize gay marriage.
"I am so proud to be a New Yorker! One step closer to equality and toward the legalization of Gay Marriage in America. Full Equality. Unity," she tweeted. "NY State needs us, and the time for change is now," she continued to tweet.
Julianne Moore similarly urged her followers to contact their senate as did Lance Bass who hosted a phone bank alongside Russel Simmons last week, calling local legislators to voice their support for gay marriage.
Perez Hilton showed his frustration with the senate tweeting, "Separate but equal is NOT equal!"
Whichever way the gavel swings, this important step toward marriage equality and the support of the Hollywood community will serve as another rung on the ladder toward total equality.

If god wanted man and man he would have made Adam and James? There is just some "stuff" that is to much in the open...

There is no God, there was no Adam and Eve. There is no logic to your position. Enjoy your ignorance.
Such a tired statement. So what if he made Adam and Eve first? They were prototypes. Then he diversified and added different races, sexual orientations, etc. How's that?
Excuse me, GOD DID make ADAM and JAMES like he MADE ALL of US...even you!
Wow, are we supposed to be surprised?

I am totally surprised and disgusted at what is happening to our beloved country. We have always had gay people in this country but they lived their life the way it should be kept, private. Why do you have to make a spectacle of yourself by putting your life in print. Don't you have any pride. Another thing we have in this country, you don't get married and have your children. You have your children, then get married with all the trimmings. That is why the world is in such a mess - it used to be the horse before the cart, now it is the cart before the horse. I believe everyone should live their own life, but we don't have to share it.

Betty, here's a thought: Let's deny you rights that others have and ask you to hide away in shame. Have you ever been told you can't visit your spouse in the hospital because you aren't "legally recognized" family? How about not having your will respected by blood relations because your partner "doesn't legally count"? Until you have the slightest idea what that's like, keep your close-minded and ignorant thoughts to yourself. Gay people and their supporters are sharing their beliefs "in print" because it's one way to fight for rights that you take for granted. If you want to talk about disgust, it's your attitude that should be repellent to others.
Amen Mac I agree 100% took the words right out of my mouth. Betty your being judgemental as for famous or non-famous having a baby before marriage as long as they can take care of it and can support a family I have no problem.
NOT AGAINST GAYS,SOME ARE GOOD FRIENDS OF MINE. I FEEL THIS IS A CHOICE OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE,NOT A FEW REPRESENTATIVES WHO WORRY ABOUT THEIR JOBS.. ALSO, A DIFFERENT TITLE SHOULD BE USED NOT MARRIAGE..BRING IT TO A VOTE BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

Because the majority should not rule against the minority. Otherwise, back in the day, blacks would never have been given rights, women would not have been allowed to vote, interracial marriages wouldn't have been accepted.
"The Tyranny of the Majority." Google it.
The majority has voted, in polls and the polls show over half of the american population is in favor of gay marriage equality. Its already been put to a general population vote.. our politicians aren't doing their job on representing us, instead they're trying to get reelected for more money.
In some countries if they find out your a Fudge-Packer they kill you bring that here!!! Adam and Eve Not Adam and Steve

I surely believe, GOD will forgive their LOVE, before he forgives your HATE.
Ed, you're just writing that because you want to stir up reaction, right? It's not possible for such a Neanderthal response to be genuine, is it? To think I share the same country as someone like you, who believes that people should be killed for who they love is inconceivable. If God is love, what the heck does that say about you?
"Fudge-packer"? "Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve"? What are you, a child? Grow up.
Your heartless and mean ED gays shouldn't be killed just because they like guys or ladies. But your ful of hate and are bigot all claims are lies ED I'm so sick of hearing Adam & Eve god made everyone.
"Fudge-Packer" that's the name you call gay people? My, wonder what you call other folks you don't like? Bet you couldn't get by with that name calling here. I am blessed to know that I don't have any friends even a little bit like YOU!
Fudge packers... How 1980's of you. Why do those straight guys who think anal sex is gross when two guys do it, but beg their wives to do it?
And most important to point out...People who are against gay adoptions...Its not the gays who had all these children that are are currently up for adoption now is it? So why is it wrong for us bad bad gay people to fix what you screwed up in the first place. Just like marriages, straight people have been screwing that up for generations. Cant deny that now can you!
