We all could have guessed that Eminem has split personalities, but lately, the rap superstar truly has been doing double duty, splitting his time between his solo career (he just headlined Bonnaroo) and his latest project, Bad Meets Evil. Now, in the new video for 'Space Bound,' the latest single from Em's 2010 blockbuster album, 'Recovery,' we see two versions of the Detroit rapper playing out alternate scenarios with a graphic, shocking turning point. Be warned, his journey involves a suicidal choice -- one he may be only imagining.
In the dark, dramatic clip, directed by Joseph Kahn, two versions of Eminem enter a diner. One sits at a booth with his girlfriend (played by porn star Sasha Grey), and learns from glancing at her phone that his "supernova" lover is cheating. Meanwhile, the other Eminem sits at the deli counter, alone. Without question, both are suffering a painful heartbreak.
So, will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Check out the new video after the jump.

You've got to be kidding me!? If artists like eminem didn't think anyone was watching, that they were influencing no one, they would stop doing this for a living. There is no doubt he knows his audience and it is irresponsible for him to put this crap out there. If he wants to make a statement about suicide then he should join some organization and speak out and urge folks to get help if they are feeling this way. The worst part: he has a child (maybe more than one) and damn well should know better. His child may not emulate him but she may well emulate someone else. At what cost? Loser, not an artist.
I agree. I have a friend who said her teen actually decided AGAINST suicide after listening to Emimem.
You are ABSOLUTELY correct a Video is not going to be the final nail in the coffin to drive someone to suicide. Young people are certainly vulnerable, they are young, however they are also very smart.
The only person at fault for suicide is the selfish person that indulged in the act leaving EVERYONE behind feeling as if they are to blame.
I guess everyone missed the split persona projected in this video. And TV Gord, thanks for the support...:)
Sick.

His songs are so depressing. Seriously, he's notoriously pissed off or sad about something. I've grown tired of it.

Hoopsland, by your logic, I wonder how many Italians were enticed to join the mob by Tony Soprano?

The difference, Gordo, is that the Sopranos are on HBO and are flagged as adult entertainment. They're not going to appear on the food court TVs at our local mall, where kids of all ages are a captive audience, watching him "imagine" himself blowing his brains out, then thinking better of it. C'mon, you can't seriously be saying that he can disregard the age and vulnerability of his audience. And don't tell anyone that each parent has to monitor their own children, that's obvious. But we can't be with them 24/7, when people like yourself might allow their kids to watch anything. Sopranos, get serious.
What I'm saying is that a video is not going to trigger suicidal behavior in kids. It's either already there or its not. And it's not very likely this video is the first time the concept of shooting oneself occurred to people who are suicidal. You're giving a music video way too much credit.
I understand what he was trying to say with the video but I've got a bad feelin about this. There are a lot of young men that look up to Eminem and will see this as this as its ok to kill someone and harm themselves because someone hurt them.

He needs a chain with a huge alarm clock around his neck to go off and wake him up to remind him that his career that never was, has already past. . . . . loser.

There is no girl in the world worth dying for, because in the end the only love that really matters is God's love.

Seriously, who really cares about this loser anymore?

KT: Get out of here. What are you 9 years old? Eminem has 3 times the talent of Justin Bieber. Eminem has meaningful lyrics while Jb is all about love. Baby baby baby oh. What is that crap? Its the whole song. Eminem has a future. In 3 years when Justin hits puberty and his voice changes and he gets hair somewhere other than the top of his head he'll disappear off the face of the earth.
