Former 'Dexter' Star Julie Benz Engaged!

Former 'Dexter' star Julie Benz is getting married! The 39-year-old actress is engaged to long-term boyfriend, marketing executive Rich Orosco, her rep confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday.

Orosco, 38, proposed to Benz on Sunday in the backyard of the home the couple shares in Los Angeles. And the engagement ring? It's a customized Kwiat cushion-cut diamond and platinum engagement ring--complete with a diamond frame and milgrain edge band.

"It was absolutely perfect," Benz, who will next be seen in the USA hit 'Royal Pains,' told PEOPLE.

Right after the engagement, nearly 60 of their friends and family joined them for a surprise Mexican-themed engagement party, planned by Orosco.

"The proposal was simple and beautiful--and then I was shocked by the pop-up surprise Mexican fiesta engagement party," Benz said. "What girl doesn't want to be serenaded by a Mariachi band surrounded by close friends and family?"

This will be the actress's second marriage. She was previously married to actor John Kassir; they divorced in 2007.

Julie has had a 20 year career. To narrow it down to her being 'former Dexter Star' is not giving her very much credit.

You are so right! In fact, Dexter wasn't even the last show she was in, she was in ABC's No Ordinary Family this season...and I'll always remember her as Darla on "Buffy"
