Cee Lo Green's exuberant awards show outfits are becoming legendary and at Sunday night's (June 26) BET Awards he took it to a whole new level.
Performing a tribute to Patti LaBelle, who was the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Green appeared in a colorful sequin jacket and spiky black wig, which he wore in an effort to mimic the singer's famous '80s hairdo, as he belted out her hit 'Somebody Loves You.'
While the crowd responded positively to his attempt at dressing up just like LaBelle, he also slipped up, addressing the audience as "motherf*****s," before the censors had time to block the expletive, which aired live on the East Coast, but was removed for the West Coast feed.
Singer Marsha Ambrosious and gospel star Shirley Ceaser also lent their pipes to the tribute before LaBelle herself took the stage to perform a few of her hits including 'Lady Marmalade.'
While the singer seemed genuinely moved and grateful for the acknowledgement of her contribution to the music world, there was one person that was none too happy about being shut out of honoring LaBelle: R&B crooner Lloyd.
The Atlanta native tapped the soul singer for the remix of his song 'Lay It Down,' which is a sample of LaBelle's 'Love, Need and Want You.' Following the show, the 25-year-old publicly blasted BET for not including him in the performance. "I'm just very passionate," Lloyd told the Boombox of his reaction to the snub. "I'm just passionate about my music and my art, and I'm passionate about being recognized for that, being the only young person of my generation to work with the likes of Patti LaBelle. Blame me if you want but I'm just passionate."

They should have put Lloyd in that performance! He had Patti LaBelle sing on his remix for his Lay Your Head hit single! Rather than Lloyd just singing over her Love Want and Need You sample on the song and not crediting Patti for it. It would have been fun to see Lloyd and Patti LaBelle sing together, get two generations of R&B artists to sing together on the same stage! BET's award show producers really messed up on that area! They got Marsha Ambrosius and Shirley Caesar to sing in the tribute, but they should have had another male R&B singer in the tribute. Now Cee-Lo, you know he was going to dress like Patti's '80s era look for his performance! Funny! Even was spraying that hair spray a lot on his wig! But the whole tribute was nice, Marsha sounded great, Shirley fabulous and Patti was just phenomenal in her pair of songs!
Pay your dues Lloyd. Just because youy pay someone to guest on your record does not put you anywhere neaar their level. Cee Lo has been working for ten years as a worldwide artust. WHO ARE YOU?
Did he also instruct three thugs to beat up a West Point cadet? That's what she did during a recent visit to Houston,TX. All because he came too close to her luggage while he was waiting to be picked up at the airport. Disgraceful and disgusting.
Have lost all respect for Patti when I found out she is suing the West Point grad/Soldier who her thug bodyguards beat the crap out of. Way to treat the good guys Patti!! Shame on you!
whatever, you need to get your story straight; you miss the part where the solider was intoxication. Otherwise he wouldnt have lose his position at westpoint. Westpoint did the right thing.
If you want anyone to take you seriously Tiffany you really should learn how to spell and some proper grammer would be nice too. I can see how a lesser intelligent individual like you would take the side of some thugs who would beat up an American soldier.
