Shia LaBeouf: 'Am I An A**hole for Being Honest?'

Shia LaBeouf isn't one to hold his tongue - or his fist for that matter - and he isn't going to change his tune for studio heads, girlfriends or strangers in a bar looking for trouble. Although that may be the reputation the 'Transformers' star has managed to build for himself, there is so much more to this talented young actor.

LaBeouf covers the August issue of DETAILS magazine and opens up about the women in his life, his past films and his uncanny knack for finding himself in hot water.

The 25-year-old star wound up in handcuffs last winter after an altercation at a Los Angeles bar and has on multiple occasions gotten into a scuffle or two with paparazzi. He hasn't necessarily been known for being warm and fuzzy but DETAILS asked about his rough around the edges exterior and he admits that although he may not always be kind, he is always honest.

"I would like to be George Clooney– diplomatic," he says. "I just don't have the wherewithal yet or the inner serenity. My bullsh*t meter is tuned very sensitive. The minute it starts kicking up, I get back to truth, and sometimes that involves, you know, 'I don't want to take a picture.' And if that's the case, am I an a**hole for being honest? Or am I an a**hole for being dishonest, smiling in your picture and I f**king hate being there? Which one is worse? These are the questions I ask myself that George Clooney doesn't ask."

One question he is often asked: has he hooked up with his old co-star, Megan Fox? "Look, you're on the set for six months, with someone who's rooting to be attracted to you, and you're rooting to be attracted to them," he explains. "I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen."

Quite a cryptic response for a normally eloquent young man, and even more off putting was his answer to the inquiry about Fox's relationship with her husband, Brian Austin Green. "I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know ... " he says, repeating 'I don't know' 12 times, in 12 different ways before finally saying, "It was what it was."

LaBeouf reveals more about his past loves, including his most recent ex-girlfriend Carey Mulligan, and talks candidly about his thoughts on previous films 'Wall Street 2' and 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' in the August edition of DETAILS.

I remember reading about him in Parade after the first T movie and he was so down to earth and humble about his good fortune. He needs to quit drinking and doing drugs and get some therapy because he has turned into an a-hole. Maybe GC does ask himself those questions but he's not a d#*k and knows how to handle himself, ever think of that?

Little Mr. Spoiled Brat needs to understand that just because he can say whatever he wants whenever he wants, doesn't mean he HAS to. People like this, they think the entire world hangs on their every word, which is why I detest Twitter so much. I'm no Megan Fox fan, but perhaps he could've cleared this with her before he opened his big yap. But no, that would be the gentlemanly thing to do, and he doesn't have a clue about how that works.

Does he honestly think the papparazzi think he's all gung ho about them taking his picture? And no, some fan asking for his picture is probably not what he wants to do but without his fans he has nothing so suck it up, Shia! And wow, he really is a douche regarding what he said about Megan Fox and their relationship. I'm not a Megan Fox fan but I'd hate to see her husband get hurt by what Shia said.

I think he is a cool dude! Give him a break! He is only 25 and has more than the average to deal with! I think for all he has to manage he is doing pretty darn good.
I think he could have done alot better than dating Carey and could really see him and Megan together some day.
