Bam Margera Mourns Loss of Ryan Dunn: 'It Shouldn't Have Been Him' (Video)

Losing a friend is always hard, and 'Jackass' star Bam Margera lost his very best friend when Ryan Dunn died in a violent car accident last week.

"It was pretty much the worst news I've ever heard in my life," Margera told E! Online while sitting next his wife, Melissa "Missy" Rothstein.

"He was my best f--king friend in the world. It's been five days now and I can't stop crying man," a visibly upset Margera said. "I just don't think it should've been him."

Though news of Dunn's death came as a shock -- Margera woke up to the news in Arizona -- the 'Jackass' star's reckless driving didn't come as a surprise.

"He flipped me in a car eight times at the same exact spot in 1996," Margera said. "Thank God I had my seat belt on, because ['Jackass' star] Chris Raab put one on me, but my brother didn't have one on. He flew 40 feet. Thank God he's alive. But like, Dunn was always a maniac at driving."

During the interview, Margera read a series of text messages the friends exchanged, with the last one reading, "Stopping for a beer, be there when I can."

"He should have just f**king turned around," Margera said. "But he skidded out."

Dunn's Porsche reportedly swerved off the road, hit a guardrail and careened into the woods where it burst into flames. Both Dunn and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, were killed.

According to the L.A. Times, the coroner's report confirms that blunt force trauma and thermal trauma were the official causes of death in the accident.

After an accident reconstruction, Police Chief Michael Carroll told RadarOnline.com that the Porsche 911 was going "about 130 mph" when the accident happened in a reported 55-mph zone. Dunn was reportedly drinking at a local bar before the accident occurred.

well not in the last 10 years since the laws basically say if you have a slight buzz your drunk. Morons when you know your going out drinking make plans IN ADVANCE hire a car service or take cabs....Hes a dumbas* or should i say Jackas* for because he could have easily afforded someone to drive him around even in his Porsche

I don't know about the rest of you, but Bam Margera sounds like he's on drugs or something int his interview. And as for Dunn, I'm glad the idiot didn't kill anybody else. It could have easily been your mother or father or brother/sister. Quite frankly he was so stupid, he got what he deserved.

It shouldn't have been him? Have you lost your mind? Do you have a brain? He's had accidents before and he didn't learn his lesson. I'm just glad he didn't kill anyone. Oh wait, he did. Time to grow up Bam and get a clue!

We're not happy he died, but if I have a choice for you should die for him getting behind a wheel drunk..either him or some other innocent person, I want it to be HIM who pays for his stupidity and not the other person.

Even if he was drinking and driving, two people are dead and there isn't anything we can change about that. Their family and friends are mourning. That's respect that. To the friends and family of these two men, sorry for your loss.

As idiotic, moronic, stupid, or whatever else you may be saying, as they were they were still friends ands still people. Believe it or not, even with all the stupid stuff they do, they are good people with good hearts. They care about one another and are loyal friends. If it had been a cop or a doctor who was a recovering alcoholic and had slipped up one night after someone had died and this happened? You all would be saying, "Oh, the poor guy. He was going through a rough time. He didn't deserve this." Neither did Ryan. Even if he was being stupid you have no right to say he deserved it or that you have no sympathy for him because he was still a person. You are all a bunch of rude, inconsiderate cowards who should be ashamed about the things you've said. Ryan had parents, siblings, and friends. He had people who cared about him and a life he lived to the fullest. He was happy which more than a lot of you can say about yourselves.

I'm so sorry for your loss Bam. All reasons for this terrible tragedy aside, let’s not forget....Bam just lost his best friend. Have some respect. Can't change the past, but you can at least have some respect for somebody who is very visibly shaken up and in a very sad place right now.

All you idiots out there that drink and drive should have your license taken away. This moron killed his friend and himself. Because his ego was so big that he didnt want to ask someone to drive them home. I wonder if he would have lived if he would have been charged with murder. Please people think before you get behind the wheel of a car after you have been drinking. And to the person that said we are judging about drinking and driving. Did you see the video where he downed a pint a booze. Then got behind the wheel of a car. You must do the same thing if you are sticking up for him.

If Ryan had survived the crash, he would have definitely been charged with vehicular homicide. Folks, none of us can just drink like fish, climb behind the wheel and attempt to drive. Look what resulted when Ryan tried this another time (which turned out to be his FINAL one).

so they may not be the smartest men but they are people and they have family and loved ones who are heartbroken.....be respectful. 3 times the legal limit is 3 beers, most people are not even a slight bit buzzed off 3 beers.i have lost a few friends and family to stupid accidents so be kind.
