Bam Margera Mourns Loss of Ryan Dunn: 'It Shouldn't Have Been Him' (Video)

Losing a friend is always hard, and 'Jackass' star Bam Margera lost his very best friend when Ryan Dunn died in a violent car accident last week.

"It was pretty much the worst news I've ever heard in my life," Margera told E! Online while sitting next his wife, Melissa "Missy" Rothstein.

"He was my best f--king friend in the world. It's been five days now and I can't stop crying man," a visibly upset Margera said. "I just don't think it should've been him."

Though news of Dunn's death came as a shock -- Margera woke up to the news in Arizona -- the 'Jackass' star's reckless driving didn't come as a surprise.

"He flipped me in a car eight times at the same exact spot in 1996," Margera said. "Thank God I had my seat belt on, because ['Jackass' star] Chris Raab put one on me, but my brother didn't have one on. He flew 40 feet. Thank God he's alive. But like, Dunn was always a maniac at driving."

During the interview, Margera read a series of text messages the friends exchanged, with the last one reading, "Stopping for a beer, be there when I can."

"He should have just f**king turned around," Margera said. "But he skidded out."

Dunn's Porsche reportedly swerved off the road, hit a guardrail and careened into the woods where it burst into flames. Both Dunn and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, were killed.

According to the L.A. Times, the coroner's report confirms that blunt force trauma and thermal trauma were the official causes of death in the accident.

After an accident reconstruction, Police Chief Michael Carroll told RadarOnline.com that the Porsche 911 was going "about 130 mph" when the accident happened in a reported 55-mph zone. Dunn was reportedly drinking at a local bar before the accident occurred.

Jamie I can say that I have not drank and drove. Apparently it is sad because no one will learn nothing absolutely nothing about drinking and driving. They say to themselves that oh nothing is going to happen to me.

I don't feel bad for Bam at all. All of these "so-called" friends knew that he would drink and drive. They did nothing to stop him. I feel for the people who get killed by an idiot who drinks and drives, not for someone like Ryan Dunn.
BTW - Bam can't even article his words, sorrow maybe, but it looks like he is on something. I guess a "friend" dying does not make you want to clean yourself up.

How right you are....as far as the toxicology report, it was reported last week he had a blood alcohol level at least twice the legal limit. It is sad all the way around, but he made a bad decision that cost two people's lives.

It's nobodies business but Dunn's family and friends. It wasn't murder; that guy was also drunk. He knew what he was getting into- he's not innocent.
Yeah; Ryan Dunn is dead because he drank and drove. But that doesn't mean Bam should take it any lighter. I'm so sorry for your loss, Bam and everyone else who was close with Ryan and Zach.

Bam I am truly sorry about ryan and I hate the media and how they try to make every one look bad but you had a awsome friend and brother you guys were so close and now he was taken suddenly and we all hate the fact that it happend and all the people who don't under stand he was a person and and he was some ones brother and who cares what those peolpe think any ways I have had members in my family killed by drunk drivers and friends killed by drunk drivers and I don't hold any thing aginst them because they were impaired and could not think in their right mind so all of the people who had nothing nice to say are just jerks.

To Kasey: You say we should "have sympathy for his family". That's the problem: When dealing with addicts who constantly endanger their lives and those of us on the planet with them, we need to stop with the "sympathy", aka "enabling" and do whatever we can to encourage (force) them to stop their destructive behaviour. The fact that there were people, including his idiot friend, who were still willing to get in a car with him indicates that he had too many enablers in his life. I wonder how often the spouses of people like this allow them to drive drunk or high with their own children in the car....

Very sad. So many lives affected, by a bad decision go terribly bad. We all get 1 shot on this planet and anytime we loose someone it is significant. My heart goes out to both families and friends. As someone who suffers from severe chronic back pain, Dunn was able to make me laugh on many different occasions, and that means a lot to me. You will be missed, but not forgotten. RIP

OMG....is this guy high or what. He acts like he's on something. My niece was walking down a road and a drunk driver killed her. Do I have sympathy for drunk drivers...hell no! Do I have sympathy for his family...hell yes!! Not there fault and they lost someone they love too but he caused this himself.

You guys are real jerks for saying that Bam sounds like hes dumb, and stupid. His best friend just died in a car accident...it doesn't matter how, or why, his best friend is gone. He is brave enough to get in front of a camera in this state, cut him some slack...im sure you would sound dumb too if you were mourning the loss of your best friend.
