Bam Margera Mourns Loss of Ryan Dunn: 'It Shouldn't Have Been Him' (Video)

Losing a friend is always hard, and 'Jackass' star Bam Margera lost his very best friend when Ryan Dunn died in a violent car accident last week.

"It was pretty much the worst news I've ever heard in my life," Margera told E! Online while sitting next his wife, Melissa "Missy" Rothstein.

"He was my best f--king friend in the world. It's been five days now and I can't stop crying man," a visibly upset Margera said. "I just don't think it should've been him."

Though news of Dunn's death came as a shock -- Margera woke up to the news in Arizona -- the 'Jackass' star's reckless driving didn't come as a surprise.

"He flipped me in a car eight times at the same exact spot in 1996," Margera said. "Thank God I had my seat belt on, because ['Jackass' star] Chris Raab put one on me, but my brother didn't have one on. He flew 40 feet. Thank God he's alive. But like, Dunn was always a maniac at driving."

During the interview, Margera read a series of text messages the friends exchanged, with the last one reading, "Stopping for a beer, be there when I can."

"He should have just f**king turned around," Margera said. "But he skidded out."

Dunn's Porsche reportedly swerved off the road, hit a guardrail and careened into the woods where it burst into flames. Both Dunn and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, were killed.

According to the L.A. Times, the coroner's report confirms that blunt force trauma and thermal trauma were the official causes of death in the accident.

After an accident reconstruction, Police Chief Michael Carroll told RadarOnline.com that the Porsche 911 was going "about 130 mph" when the accident happened in a reported 55-mph zone. Dunn was reportedly drinking at a local bar before the accident occurred.

It's really sad to see how insensitive people can be. Probably more then half of the people saying "he deserved it he was driving drunk" have driven drunk. I lost my best friend because of doctors not paying close attention but people don't say "she was an idiot for going to the doctor." i know its different but in a way it's the same. no one wants to hear their dead best friend is an idiot. Bam is dealing with the loss of his best friend people you don't need to talk so much trash. and by the statement "It shouldn't have been him." maybe he was saying it should have been himself i know when i lost my best friend i said that. the fact his best friend drove drunk was not his fault so shut up about it

Wow - I understand being distraught and Bam could be using to numb the pain from losing a very good friend, but why do an interview? He's obviously on Heroin, Pain Killers or some type of downer. I wouldn't be surprised if he and Missy were chronic drug users anyway - but there are a lot of kids who look up to this group, he should have waited it out until he was sober to do an interview. But who knows, maybe he's been prescribed something for the anxiety this has caused?

Melissa: Are you seriously trying to make excuses for this guy? The legal limits are set according to numerous studies done to determine how much alcohol it takes to impair a person's judgment. You agree with Jamie, who calls us hypocrites and suggests that everyone drives drunk or high; you need to stop and realize that your condoning this behaviour seriously escalates these problems. I wonder how many of those friends and family you say you've lost to "stupid accidents" were people who should have been stopped instead of having people like you shedding misplaced tears over them after it was too late.

All of you people need to stop saying all this shi* about how ryan dunn was a murderer. He was a normal person who went out to go get a drink and got a little drunk. Then he drove as he normally would and something went wrong. Bam should be sad. Hes known ryan all his life and you fu*kers couldnt give a shi*. And it shouldnt of been him. Who it shouldve been was a heartless murderer who intends on killing people. All you people go rot in hell unless you agree with me.

Why are you all "thanking god" that he died. Nobody was saying somebody should have died in his place, they are just wishing he didn't die himself.
