'Tudors' star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was rushed to a Central London hospital Tuesday night after reports that he had taken a large quantity of pills in an attempt at suicide, according to The Sun. Now, a friend of the actor is speaking out, saying that Meyers' dangerous condition was due to a relapse rather than a go at taking his own life."It was not a suicide attempt," a source close to the actor told Us Weekly. "He did relapse and was hospitalized for that, but was released."
Paramedics arrived at the troubled star's Maida Vale home Tuesday evening to find Meyers "slumped" on the floor. But upon their arrival, the actor refused medical attention, prompting paramedics to call the police.
"Officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment," Scotland Yard confirmed. "The man was taken to hospital."

I agree with you - he is such a talented young man, but clearly that is not enough. He needs something that is eluding him. I hope that he gets help for what ever deamons he cannot shake, and surrounds himself with people who mean him well.
I NEVER HEARD OF HIM UNTIL "TUDORS". WHAT A AWESOM ACTOR!
This is what too much money too fast does to young people, Movie/TV stars as well as sports stars are all way over-paid.
I hope he can identify what is causing him so much pain and fix it and live out a long happy life.

Money has nothing to do with depression. :P
This man has serious issues, and money has nothing to do with it.
Whatever it is, it can be fixed! He has got a whole life ahead of him. I am a big fan of his.
I think he is a great guy, handsome as well.
He can have whatever he wants. Hope he gets the help he needs.
Good Luck

Suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do to himself and his family. What makes this really sad is the fact that he did one hell of a great job in "The Tudors". He needs help and hopefully he will get it and SOON. Prayers and thoughts to him and his family.

When a human is in pain they-sometimes-are in such anguish that friends and family are the least of what they worry about. They think no one will care.
Jonathan was great in Tudors. Handsome sexy animal...and at this point it doesn't matter if he is gay or straight. He is beautiful.
Get well. Please get some help. We would all hate to loose you.
OMG....selfish...I lost my daughter to suicide 6 years ago and it was not a selfish act and it never is...the pain that the mentally ill indure you could never deal with as a sane person. she lived to die as the pain and suffering was that bad. Educate yourself on mental ILLNESS it is that an Illness yes the right meds can help but can you force them to take them.....? STIGMA...until you know what you are talking about don't say anything!!!!!! I pray you never loose anyone to this horrible ILLNESS
This really is sad....but why does it matter only because they're celebs? This kind of thing goes on every day, all over the world. Celebs are human....and very much like the rest of us. Just sayin....

This young man is SUCH a gifted and talented actor, and it's very sad that he's had a substance/alcohol abuse problem for SO long. I sincerely hope that he is able to conquer his demons for his own sake, that of his family, and his many, many adoring fans.

Unless you personally have these terrible demons it is hard to understand. There is help out there, yes, but how to make it work? People may be sorry to leave loved ones behind, which only adds to their own feelings of no self worth, it truly is a bad way all around. He has my prayers as well as all his loved ones.

Despite all that Mr. Rhys Meyers has...exceptionally good looks and incredible talent, he still has long standing emotional losses and grief that just don't go away with fame and money...if anything, the pressure of all this fame can exacerbate mental demons. My thoughts are with him in hopes that he can heal...he doesn't realize it but he has so much to offer to the world and to himself as well.
