Could Selena Gomez Fill Charlotte's Shoes in a 'Sex and the City' Prequel?

Ever since rumors that a 'Sex and the City' prequel could be hitting theaters sometime in the future popped up, it's been an all-out guessing game as who which young stars could fill the now-iconic shoes of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.

The latest name to add to the list? Hollywood "It" girl and Justin Bieber's girlfriend Selena Gomez, of course.

The speculation comes straight from the 'SATC' author herself, revealing to The Daily Caller she'd love to see the 'Monte Carlo' star channel Charlotte York should her prequel make it to the big screen.

"You know, I don't know...Casting is like kismet. I'm going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking 'she'd make a really good young Charlotte,'" Candace Bushnell said. "She's so pretty. I was like...gosh, wouldn't she be great? Am I right or wrong? I'm not good at this. If I say something like that, then the next thing I know, people are like, no!"

But one thing Bushnell, who just released the second 'SATC' prequel, 'Summer and the City,' knows for sure is that the early days of Carrie & Co. will be brought to life -- one way or another.

"Definitely something on the screen," Bushnell said of the prequel. "Big or small screen."

The author was mum on rumors that Blake Lively could take on the role of a young Carrie Bradshaw, but did comment on the two 'SATC' movies starring the original HBO crew.

"Love 'em," Bushnell said, adding she can't take credit for the films. "I wasn't involved with the movies, but Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed a lot of episodes of 'Sex and the City,' he wrote and directed the movies and he's fantastic."

I certainly hope she's NOT tempted to fill a role on that sleazy soap opera. She hasn't made any career mistakes yet, but putting her wholesome image on the line for that trash would be a mistake.

Yeah, I REALLY hope so too. Selena has been doing a REALLY good job for having a good reputation of herself, unlike Demi, Vanessa, Miley and Britney. I really hope she doesn't blow up now! Plus, she's too young anyway! She's like 18 or 19.

That's exactly what I thought. There is no way that Selena Gomez could play the same character as Kristen Davis-- they are not the same ethnicity. Period. How could she even be considered? Are they also considering Beyonce? It would be just as wrong if they were.

This would be an awful bit of casting. Selena in no way can replicate the intricate bit of whimsy that Kristin Davis has given "Charlotte."

There is only one Charlotte/Kristin Davis and she is very hard to replace. I frankly do not know why the powers to be would even want to do a prequel to SATC. Nothing like milking something that does not need to have their udders pulled....

Her image is too innocent to suite the characters of SATC, watching a Disney girl in sex in the city would be the last thing to enjoy.
She can sing, dance and she has a nice boyfriend too, she is too sweet for this soap.
