Is 'Glee' Expelling Chord Overstreet?

Last year, 'Glee' creator and head writer Ryan Murphy brought new characters to the forefront, but not all of them will remain stars at McKinley High.

Chord Overstreet (Sam on 'Glee'), who joined the show for season 2, is not returning to the series as a regular this fall, according to Deadline.com.

At the same time, breakout guest star Darren Criss (who plays Kurt's boyfriend, and Warblers' frontman, Blaine) has earned a promotion, and will be upgraded in the show's credits for season 3, joining the regular cast. Harry Shum, Jr., who plays the dancing love interest of Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), will also become a regular.

Overstreet, 22, tweeted on Friday, "Well its been a good yr too bad its over, time for summer and starting fresh."

The Nashville native hasn't been kicked off the show entirely: his contract will reportedly allow for guest appearances in future episodes.

The 'Glee' tour is wrapping up after weeks of live shows around the country. Fans who missed the concert can see the New Directions kids, including Overstreet, in a movie about the tour when 'Glee Live! 3D!' opens on the big screen Aug. 12.

Murphy recently confirmed that most, if not all, the student characters on 'Glee' will soon move on with their lives, with many original cast members "graduating" in May 2012. He told TVLine, "Do we really want to have an eight-year [high school] senior? The only way somebody could stay on the show is if they flunk, and that is always a possibility. I think Brittany is pulling straight Fs."

So the whole thing in the finale with him and Mercedes, they're just dropping that? I'm shocked. Not. It wouldn't be the first time they introduced a potentially interesting plot element and then forgot all about it.

Blaine & Chord should "do it" together!

It will be a sad day when Lea Michele and Chris Colfer graduate next year, these two don't appear to be F students so it's clear those two will be leaving, I can't see anyone staying not even Brittany. The chemistry these young people have on the show is phenomenal, be interesting how they intend to change the cast.

There's probably nobody sappier on TV right now than Lea Michele...and it's not her character, it's her. In public, though, she doesn't seem all that far removed from her character.

I don't think Chris Colfer will be leaving. I've read some articles about the cast leaving. I don't think Chris is supposed to be the same age as some of the others. He might be a junior or younger.

He was a "fresh face" this past season - Good looking, great personality and good singer/actor. He had good chemistry with the group. I will miss his little impersonations. Good luck Chord! I will keep following you where ever you go......

I hate Darren Criss, his character is so annoying. I fast forward when he is on screen. Not sure why they would get rid of Chord, I like him on the show. Lea rules.

THEY CANT TAKE HIM AWAY WHAT ABOUT HIM AND MERCADIES?

I hope it's true Jimmy I don't want to see any of them leave but I know that Dianna Agron has been in a couple of movies so I'm sure she'll be leaving, she's a good character but I know those who don't like Rachel will hate me but she has the voice, Lea Michele on the last episode outed her and Finn as next year will be their senior year. The cast is talented, but I can't see Glee getting rid of characters that bring you back to the show, I'll be Lea will be made apart of the show as I bet Cory will be kept as well. When you have a good show with talented people who all are not the age they portray it wouldn't hurt to keep the talented and most loved characters on the show. Not being a kid myself but someone who enjoys talent, this show definetly would not be the same with out Lea, Cory, Chris among others.
