Katie Holmes Hosts Surprise Party for Tom Cruise's 49th Birthday

Today is Tom Cruise's 49th birthday, and to celebrate, Katie Holmes threw him a surprise party on Saturday in Miami, where her husband is on location shooting 'Rock of Ages.'

Isabella and Connor, Tom Cruise's teenage kids with ex Nicole Kidman, were seen joining Holmes as she carried 5-year-old Suri (casually attired in flip flops and a sundress) into Miami's swanky Soho House for the festivities.

Holmes, 32, arranged the party in secret for about 40 guests, who dined on Italian entrees and a chocolate cake for dessert, according to the New York Post.

This summer, the actress has been enjoying down time (and beach time) in Miami as Cruise rocks out in his role as Stacee Jaxx in the star-studded musical movie. 'Rock of Ages,' based on the Broadway hit of the same name, will open next summer and co-stars Russell Brand, Julianne Hough and Alec Baldwin.

Before hosting Cruise's birthday party, Holmes jetted West last week for the world premiere of her spooky thriller 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Back in December, to celebrate Katie's 32nd birthday, Cruise treated his wife to dinner and drinks in New York City, where they also caught a performance of 'The Nutcracker.'

I think you meant to say "a poor educational system" and not "poor educators." Of course, as a teacher who hasn't received a pay increase in three years, "poor educator" is appropriate. It does not, however, mean that I am delivering a substandard education to my students.

Of course Katie still carries Suri, you really don't think she should have to walk? She could fall down and get hurt, especially if she isn't used to flat heeled shoes. Yes, of course also to the paci, mom and dad have been quoted in saying that Suri makes all the decisions on what she's wearing EVERYTHING!! OMG, she's only 5, wearing high heels, drinking her coffee, make up, certain clothes, she gets all of that now what does she have to look forward to when she gets older? I wonder if his other kids got to do this when they were her age?
If not, I'd be willing to bet they aren't to happy with either dad, or Suri. Let kids be KIDS they grow up to fast to begin with.

I've wondered about this question for a while; does anyone really know of any little (I don't just mean like little babies, but say 4 and up) who have the things Suri does? How many kids of stars have actually a so called "Normal" life?

I agree that writer's need to use proper spelling and grammar. They chose the field to be in so we aren't asking for that much. Only that they do their job properly.

"Part of the problem this country faces is the fact good grammar is declining. Poor educators, texting and slang all contribute to the overall decline. If you want to live in that world, go right ahead."

Also, teaching script handwriting has been discontinued in almost all of the schools now. Nobody will even know how to sign their own name.

It's a birthday party. No matter what your small minds may think everyone is entitled to some enjoyment in life. So his religion doesn't match yours, big deal. The guy has made some darn entertaining movies, he's good at what he does, don't let his success ruin your day. As for proper grammer, I understand your point, however this is an entertainment section, not mandatory college reading material. The death of proper grammer can be traced to texting and new technology. Little thinking, short cuts at every corner.

So what do magazines/tabloids like "Us," "People," "The National Inquirer," have to say about Katie's birthday party for hubby, Tom? They have ALL reported, at least a dozen times, that Tom and Katie's marriage has been/will be/is OVER! But hey, I think the party belies those 'rumors.' If such mags want to dish dirt at least make sure the 'dirt' is true before publishing! I wish Tom well on his birthday ... and Tom and Katie's marriage the same! Long live true love ... in spite of the tabloids!
