It's official: James Spader has joined the cast of NBC's 'The Office.' However, the 'Boston Legal' veteran won't be the new Scranton branch manager of Dunder Mifflin -- he'll be the CEO of Sabre."James will reprise his role as Robert California, this uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior," Paul Lieberstein, who is executive producer and plays HR rep Toby, said in a statement.
His character first appeared in the Season 7 finale, interviewing for Michael Scott's vacant position.
"He'll have been hired over the summer as the new manager, but within hours, got himself promoted. Within days, he took over the company. James has an energy that is completely his own, and 'The Office' has no tools for dealing with this guy. We're thrilled he's joining our cast."

Good move, Spader really stood out during the one hour finale. His character was spot on and his confrontation with Dwight was the highlight of the show.

I can't stand seeing the guy. Looks like I stop watching the Office.

Hey Fool,
I'll take your place. James Spader was outstanding on Boston Legal, all we need now is William Shatner too. Never cared for the Office until now.
Ill watch that! Spader is sexy with those bedroom eyes. I look forward to it.

I like his earlier roles where he was a popular guy.
He should get better roles, he looks like a nerd.

Woo hoo! James Spader! (???)
This show isn't funny - The hand-held-camera thing is overdone, the characters uninteresting, and the writing ... well it is a TV show after all.

Its called a "mockumentary" and The Office is the first show to make it mainstream.
James Spader is brilliant!!!
Love him!!!!!!

A very smart move to sign on Spader, he is a Genius Icon of an actor and will make your ratings go up 1000%. His Talent is so awesome don't even write him a scipt, just let him flow on his own Genius. Thanks James for giving us more of your time in professional entertainment work for us to enjoy! - a BL fan.

He's going to be GREAT for this show. I would even think he could replace Sheen on Two and a half Men. He's been great in everything.

i loved his character. i'm glad that they're bringing him on in a limited capacity. too much of this character would spoil it, but in small doses it's a brilliant addition. i loved his dynamics with dwight as well.

He is disgusting enough to pull it off.

Love James Spader. Absolutely hate the show. The whole Second City, Canadian mockumentary style is just lost on me. Also, Ricky Gervais has never been funny to me. The British version of the show was even worse which is barely even possible.

Excellent! One of the best and most enigmatic actors of his generation. CAN'T WAIT!! Maybe "Denny Crane" can have a cameo sometime.
