Casey Anthony Book Deal: O.J.-Effect Could Sink Any Chance She Had

With news that Casey Anthony will soon be a free woman, any dreams of making millions of dollars off the tragic death of her young daughter, Caylee, through potential book deals looks very unlikely.

"Publishers have a long memory and after the public outcry that led to the canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book ['If I Did It'], everyone will think twice before offering Casey a deal," one senior book editor tells me.

One of the nation's largest superstore chains, Borders Group Inc., previously said it would donate any profits from the OJ book to charity, and given the public reaction to the Anthony verdict, many believe a book by Casey would be met with similar reaction.

"Even if she decided to tell the whole truth in the book, which she could because she couldn't be tried again because of double jeopardy, who would want to give their hard earned money to her," an independent publisher tells me.

Judith Regan, the would-be publisher of Simpson's book, did not get back to me to comment, but she did say at the time that Simpson approached her with the idea for the book, which reportedly was sold for $3.5 million. Pre-order sales of the OJ book had been strong, but not sensational. 'If I Did It' cracked the top 20 at Amazon.com but at the time that its cancellation was announced, the book had fallen to No. 51.

"Anyone that touches this book is committing career suicide," a writer tells me about potential Casey tell-alls. "Not to mention, how do you go to sleep at night knowing you are making this young woman rich?"

Maybe this will be better than jail for her.. She's going to be scared to go anywhere alone or even be seen in public..It's going to be very bad for her..Don't be surprised if some irate person doesn't make an attempt to attack her..Where's she going to be able to live safely??

She would safely across the pond in Europe, Mexico, Canada, or Australia...If Casay was smart she would sue the media (namely Nancy Grace and CNN) for smearing her in the first place take the money and leave the country...Nancy Grace is also a "tot mom" and she's just pissed cause her perdiction again was wrong...She told the world OJ Simpson would be convicted he was aquitted and now Casay Anthony Nancy needs a new career. Anyway The jury found the woman NOT GUILTY they did their job get over it.

I just hope she is hit with every type of lawsuit possible, I don't care how small. Just keep her having to hire attorneys and deal with the court system. She could be sued by all the volunteers who searched for her child that she knew was dead. She could be charged with improper disposal of a dead body and obstruction of justice because of her lies. All the people she stole from including check fraud. Just inundate her with court. It's a big pain in the rear and always costs money.

I just read an article not two hours ago and there was a publisher who said she would love to get her hands on the project because she "knew she could sell it". For some people it is all about the money and if someone thinks they can make a dime off of this chick, they will do it, to hell with any moral standard.

Not no but HELL NO!! She's proven time and again she can't tell he truth so it's a lot cheaper to just read the paper.

Didn't you just love the way she had her hair slung over her shoulder like she was anticipating being let out today? Jeez, I just hope her dad takes a stand and refuses to allow her in his home again cause there is no good in her returning there.

However it appears that we Texans are going to be the "lucky" participants of the newest female O.J. No sense in saying "if she has a brain in her head she won't..." cause she'll no doubt be making up for lost time. However, hopefully she'll never make a dime out of her story what with Florida hopefully filing suit for monies expended following up on her lies. That along with the lawsuits filed by same name babysitters should keep her in a cardboard box for awhile.

I don't have time to read any book about Casey Anthony. I find it ironic that she will start her new life with two lies - changing her name and dying her hair.

A publisher said the same thing about that OJ book that got pulled AFTER he had already got a down payment. What was the name of it?

OJ"s was "HOW I DID IT' and Caseys's can be "HOW I DID IT, Part II"...
