Chord Overstreet Could Be Back On 'Glee'

It looks like all of the commotion over the weekend surrounding Chord Overstreet's departure from 'Glee,' may have been for nothing. It was reported that the actor's series regular option was not picked up, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is completely out of the show.

TVLine spoke to an insider, who clarified the situation: "If Chord wants to appear on 'Glee,' the choice is his. The 'Glee' writers like his Sam character, and have plans to write for him."

In fact, the 'Glee' crew is planning for his return. "He and his reps have been told that he is welcome back to 'Glee,'" the insider said, "and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins."

Though frequent guest stars Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. were signed on as regulars for season 3, New Directions member Ashley Fink will keep her status as recurring guest star in the fall, like Overstreet.

TVLine's insider also pointed out that just because Overstreet won't be a regular in September doesn't mean he won't be promoted during the season. After all, it took Shum two seasons to get his current position.

From the beginning no one ever said he was leaving the show. So, technically, this article should be titled "Chord Overstreet is Not Leaving Glee," rather than hinting that he ever left, or was kicked off, the show in the first place.

get rid of the fat chick.. she is the most pointless character. i'm pretty sure the only reason she was brought on is cuz the show is about 'outcasts' but the cast was made up of beautiful , talented people.. sooo who's the outcast , the pregnant girl, the tall kid, the gay kid?

Duh he's not leaving! Anyone who watches the show knows that they have to rap up the Mercedes/Sam storyline.

Okay, so Sam is homeless and living in a motel. He also has just started an interracial relationship with Mercedes, but they were going to make that whole storyline disappear? Sam's situation is at least as good as Kurt's new relationship. This is the first time that I can think of where Sam is not just a gorgeous hunk, but is actually being shown as a real kid dealing with the realities of our current economy and high unemployment rate. By the way, I am a fan of Glee who happens to be over 40 years old.

Chord is a fine looking young man. One of the reason I watch the show. Gay men are glad the show is inclusive to 'all' outcast in society and nice to watch a 'pretty face' without the stereotyping. Yes I would have pick another choice to 'hit the road', but the show is all about stereotyped outcasts. Bring the 'pretty boy' back often.

So over Glee... it is just plain silly. Good music, but horrible storylines. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was more mature than Glee!

WOW, that pic looks nothing like Sam...I hope he returns.
He added a lot to the show.
Glee is my favorite show, reminds me of my time in HS and in the Madrigals ( My High Schools glee club ) back at Show Low High in Show Low Arizona, mid 1970's-late 70's. We weren't as creative but it does bring back many memories.
Glee is the best!!!

Why bother bringing him back? The cast needs to "graduate", new blood, and less "political correctness". Then it would be more believable as a high school.
