After 'planking' seemed to have swept over Hollywood faster than you can say 'Kabbalah,' there's one lonely adversary who's standing up against those that are laying down. Rapper Xzibit took to Twitter to express his extreme disapproval of the trend.
"Planking is THE dumbest sh-t ever," Xzibit tweeted (via TMZ). "#Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, its not funny. Educate."
From Rosario Dawson and Ellen Page to Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, celebrities have been laying down straight and narrow left and right.
Rapper Xzibit: 'Planking Is Racist, Not Funny'
By Kiki Von Glinow Posted Jul 8th 2011 02:30PM
Although the position in which slaves were transported during the slave trade was not technically referred to as 'planking' the fashion in which they were positioned on wood plank beds was not unlike the stiff, face down, palm to side style.
The celebrity world is famous for their apt political correctness but we're not so sure they're going to give up their beloved light as a feather, stiff as a board ways.

Oh please...really? This is just a silly, fun thing that people starting doing as a joke. I feel sure that none of the people doing it were ever even aware of what X is talking about. As a country of diverse people we really need to lighten up. It is getting to where anything and everything offends someone.

Whether he's right or wrong, how sad that the largely ill-educated celebs "aren't even aware of what he's talking about." It's part of American history, but of course when all you've been taught is 'be pretty and stay skinny',why should you have to know anything else?
i'm not african american, but what's wrong with black people being angry with slavery related issues, jewish people are argry with nazi related issues, america still have a lot of racial issues against black people, even to the point, my spouse and i can predict who's going to win on television by the color of the contestants skin, this anger against black americans must stop !

What you seem miss here is that this is NOT a racist ISSUE. It's not even an ISSUE of any sort. It's something people are doing without any ill intent whatsoever...WHATADOOFUS...
2broke, the problem is that this has nothing to do with racism, it's just something silly that a bunch of people have posted on the internet.
Who is this guy?

Typical? Really? Oh, and just so you know, because you OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T READ what he said, HE DIDN'T SAY IT WAS RACIST!! The writer of the article did!
keep playing the race card you stupid f**k. im sure al sharpton is going to back you up though...sick.

Xibit is right. Planking was a term used for how WHite people stacked slaved into slave ships. ANYONE WHO THINKS IT'S FUNNY SHOULD BE WHIPPED! ! ! I hope your ignorance lands you a place in hell.

music, you couldn't be more wrong. Do you really believe that this silly little internt craze is a slam to black people? You can't be serious? it's just a goof that has no meaning what so ever.
White people didn't stack the ships...the african slave traders did...they were black...and brought them over here and sold them to the whites as well as all over the world...not just in america...LEARN YOUR HISTORY!!!
Who's car you pimpin next ?

Lets be realistic Xzibit is more racist than most. He just had to find his way to get a little bit of attention because he is finally realizing that he doesnt matter.

I sometimes have slept on my stomach, does that now make me a racist? Please forgive me, Mr.Xzibit, for my transgressions against the black race!

Actually it began centuries ago as a form of yoga, and then was re-created in Australia as a game... Nothing to do with slavery what so ever. It offends me to be called or accused of being Racist... Im merely "DOUCHIST"

Yo X to the Z man, get back on Pimp My Ride. Fun show and you were the best host.

Are we still talking racism?? When does the crying wolf stop for crying out loud? The race card has been over-used and has no meaning anymore. We have a black President, a black Attorney General, Miss Black America, NCAA Awards...stop the whining!!! I have a lot of black friends and they don't whine like these Celebrities do on a regular basis.

Who's whinning? XZibit isn't! Did you read what he tweeted or did you just read the headline and run with it? Because HE never said it was racist, Kiki Von Glinow (writer) did!
i don't understand the point of it anyway. who thought of this?
