Rapper Xzibit: 'Planking Is Racist, Not Funny'

After 'planking' seemed to have swept over Hollywood faster than you can say 'Kabbalah,' there's one lonely adversary who's standing up against those that are laying down. Rapper Xzibit took to Twitter to express his extreme disapproval of the trend.

"Planking is THE dumbest sh-t ever," Xzibit tweeted (via TMZ). "#Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, its not funny. Educate."

From Rosario Dawson and Ellen Page to Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, celebrities have been laying down straight and narrow left and right.

"Don't get it twisted," he continued. "I care less where your dumb asses lay face down and take pictures of the shit, I'm just telling you where it came from."

Although the position in which slaves were transported during the slave trade was not technically referred to as 'planking' the fashion in which they were positioned on wood plank beds was not unlike the stiff, face down, palm to side style.

The celebrity world is famous for their apt political correctness but we're not so sure they're going to give up their beloved light as a feather, stiff as a board ways.

You people make me sick. How can you all sit there and try to hate on a man who is simply stating his opinion? He posted it on HIS Twitter. You hate on him because all he is trying to do, is educate people to the origins of, in my opinion, is one of the dumbest acts of "entertainment" I have ever witnessed. The way so many of you responded, is clear evidence that most of you could use some education in your lives. Ah, American. Land of the controlled, home of the ignorant.

If he thinks that "planking" is racist, that is fine. He, as an American, has the right to voice his opinion. But the people doing the "planking" (mostly kids) did not get the idea from slave ships. Most of them would not have done the research to get that info. It's just another fad/trend. Just like people (of all races/colors) letting their pants sag/bag & showing underwear or getting grills or tattoos. Who cares where the idea came from or who is doing it? I, personally, don't like the showing of underwear/a**, but that is the person's prerogative. If someone is not causing harm, panic or terror, they have the right as Americans to "plank", whether someone likes it or not.

Its awful funny that if you google "celebrity planking picture", at least half of the people "planking" are black!!! This includes the genius himself... "flava flav" with crown and all!!

Ummmm.... xibit is concerned about "planking" which is not anywhere near the context of what he is going on about, when he uses the "N" word? Do I hear hypocrite? Dont Het me wrong, I understand his concern but he really should have thought this out before he went on a rant about it.

Far be it from me to defend the pointlessness that is "planking," but what is this guy talking about?

Is there any evidence for what he's saying? I mean, is there a way to actually trace the current "planking" trend to the slave trade? Anything? Or did he just make it up? It sounds like he just made it up. I'm open-minded though. Anyone got any evidence? Any historical analysis? Anything like that? Just checking.

Getting so defensive over something he didnt even research first.
Some people get offended, over something they dont know what their talking about. It only makes them look and sound, totally ignorant. Education should be mandatory, for anyone whos in the public eye. Speaking before knowing anything, makes anyone look like a ignorant fool.
