Benedict was found dead Monday on Martha's Vineyard and his brother, Charles, said authorities were still investigating the cause of death.
Benedict began his acting career in the 1960s in the Theatre Company of Boston, alongside such future stars as Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino.
Benedict went on to appear in a number of movies, including a role as the oddball director in "The Goodbye Girl" with Richard Dreyfuss. But he was mainly known for his role as Bentley in "The Jeffersons," which ran on CBS from 1975 to '85.

I remember how he was such a friend of the old lady on the show, ZARA CULLY, that when she died, while it was still running, I believe, he eulogized her.

Like somebody posted before on these blogs, it is WEIRD how you can't put a certain rating star for some posts no matter how you try, but it will let you hit others, so you do. It's ALMOST like they have a score they do or don't want the posting to get, hmmm?!

Humbl, get your facts straight. In the KKK episode, the man did not need a blood transfusion. George had already saved the man's life by giving him CPR. The son thanked him for doing so. When the son had told his father what George had done, he said "You should have let me die."

I used to watch "The Jeffersons" as a kid, and I think that Paul Benedict was incredibly funny. The show was not as good after he left.. Rip Mr. Benedict...Thanks for the laughs.

Pleeseetmee...totally uncalled for. Wonder how you'd feel if it was a member of your family? Then again with your attitude your family probably can't stand you anyway. Karma...what goes around comes around, and they'll be throwing more than eggs on your grave...
