'Glee' Star Kevin McHale: 'I'm Really Good at Not Moving My Legs'

Posted Tuesday 10 November 08:05 AM By: Brooke Tarnoff

Kevin McHale has a brief but prestigious television resume - the former boy band singer switched gears to acting just a few years ago, but has already appeared in high profile shows like 'The Office,' 'Zoey 101' and 'True Blood.' Now Kevin is starring in FOX's runaway musical hit 'Glee' as wheelchair-bound misfit Artie Abrams, and the actor tells PopEater in an exclusive interview that fans continue to be shocked by his real-life ability to walk. Their confusion is understandable, says Kevin: "I'm really good at not moving my legs."

Watch the video for Kevin's thoughts on choosing an able-bodied actor to portray his character, trying to think outside the box in high school, and snagging the role of Artie "Wheels" Abrams.

We at PopEater love our DVRs, but FOX's new prime-time musical 'Glee' is on a short list of shows we skip plans to watch at its actual broadcast time. Among the reasons for our devotion: Artie "Wheels" Abrams, with his golden throat and smooth wheelchair dance moves.

We were thrilled when the actor who portrays him, Kevin McHale, came in for a chat and photo shoot. Not only did we pick up some fun tidbits about 'Glee,' we learned a few interesting things about Kevin himself. Watch the video below to hear about Kevin's boy band past, what the 'Glee' kids do when the cameras are off - and check out the photos to see how Kevin and Artie truly differ. (Spoiler alert: the wheelchair's a prop!)

Robert Englund Sends a Valentine to Horror Fans This Halloween

Posted Friday 30 October 03:05 PM By: Brooke Tarnoff

Few names are synonymous with "horror" like Freddy Krueger -- or Robert Englund, the man who brought Elm Street's worst nightmare to life. The classically-trained actor took his role seriously - not just his acting gig in six 'Nightmare on Elm Street' films (plus 'Freddy Vs. Jason'), but also his larger part within the horror-fan community, which he explains along with much more in his new book 'Hollywood Monster.' As Englund told PopEater exclusively, "The fans that were neglected, that were abused - the sort of horror Trekkies - they're running the town. Without horror, there'd be no Hollywood now. We're like the go-to hit, like the Westerns were for the '30s and '40s. Like Arthur Miller says, respect must be paid."

We spoke to Englund about the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' remake, the casting of Jackie Earle Haley and Englund's new memoir. Share the dream with the original Freddy Krueger after the jump.

John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting Shares a 'Slice' of Songwriting

Posted Thursday 22 October 05:44 PM By: Brooke Tarnoff

Only die-hard fans seem to know that Five for Fighting - the name behind hits like 'Superman (It's Not Easy)' and '100 Years' - is not actually a band. Five for Fighting, AKA John Ondrasik, explains exclusively to PopEater, "The label came to me and said, 'you know, the male singer/songwriter is the kiss of death. You need a band name.'" Whether the label's strategy was the key, Ondrasik has enjoyed serious success since signing with Columbia in 2000 - his album 'American Town' went platinum, thanks in large part to 'Superman,' the unofficial pop anthem of the nation's recovery post-9/11.

Now Five for Fighting is back with a new album. Ondrasik explains the concept behind 'Slice,' the way his work has evolved since 'Superman,' and what it means to make a record in 2009. Watch the video:

David Foster On Whitney, Madonna, and Finding the Next Big Thing

Posted Wednesday 07 October 11:31 AM By: Brooke Tarnoff

We meet a lot of fascinating people at PopEater, but we're rarely so in awe of our guests as we were when legendary composer and music producer David Foster dropped by. As a producer, Foster has guided the songs (and careers) of Celine Dion, Madonna, Michael Jackson - among dozens of other household names - and he's put his stamp on one of the tracks on Whitney Houston's highly anticipated comeback album. Foster is setting off on a North American tour with a handful of the acts he's produced - and he'll feature surprise guests in each city, chosen through his talent contest on Namedrop.com.

Foster explains his work, his tour, and whom he's loved best in the studio. Watch the video:

Guillermo Diaz Talks Thugs and 'Mercy'

Posted Tuesday 29 September 07:00 PM By: Brooke Tarnoff

We've heard actor Guillermo Diaz described as an indie favorite, but we regret to inform you that he'll have to hang up his well-deserved underground reputation soon. With stand-out roles in 'Weeds,' 'Mercy' and an upcoming Kevin Smith film, Diaz is rapidly trading his "that guy" status for on-the-street recognition. The actor - one of our personal TV heroes - spoke exclusively to PopEater about the thugs he's played (and loved), the kinder gentler Diaz on NBC's new hospital drama 'Mercy,' and whether Tracy Morgan is as nutbar crazy as he seems on TV.

Miranda Cosgrove of 'iCarly': iEat, iTweet, iCan't Believe the VMAs

Posted Wednesday 16 September 03:55 PM By: Brooke Tarnoff

If you don't recognize Miranda Cosgrove, we guarantee your kids do - grownups know her best as the overbearing band manager in 'School of Rock,' but for tweens everywhere, she is the beloved star of Nickelodeon's 'iCarly.' Cosgrove, 16, is the darling of kid-friendly entertainment, appearing in a handful of projects under the Nick umbrella. She also sang the theme song to 'iCarly,' the series that took this year's Kids' Choice Award for favorite TV show - with a song on the 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' soundtrack and a solo album in the works, Cosgrove may dominate the DVRs and iPods of every American under 17.

Cosgrove came to PopEater for an exclusive chat, telling us about her on-set hijinks, her love of snacks, the strangeness of introducing Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs - and gracing us with the most adorably terrible Italian accent we've ever heard. Watch the video and check out highlights below.
