The Last Goodnight Wake Up in Our Studio

Last summer, the Last Goodnight's 'Pictures of You' dominated the airwaves and emanated from the tube on the TV show 'Brothers and Sisters.' But what most people may not know is that prior to being called the Last Goodnight, this Connecticut-based group released two albums and an EP as Renata.

"Renata was a girl's name, and it was never pronounced correctly," singer Kurtis John tells PopEater during the TLG's recent performance in our studio. "It always pronounced like Recata, Remota, Retata. People thought It was like a cheese, a hotel, a painting ... I mean it's humiliating to have people ask, 'Did you name you band after a [kind] of cheese?'"

Watch the Last Goodnight's full performance, including their hit single, 'Pictures of You,' after the jump.

Blake Lewis Day Dreams in Our Studio

When it comes to 'American Idol,' sometimes second is the place to be. Clay Aiken, Bo Bice and Katharine McPhee have all gone on to have widely successful releases, and Blake Lewis is no exception. The 26-year-old beatboxing rocker became a fan favorite during the sixth season of the widely popular talent show, and has been on the rise to stardom ever since.

Lewis and his band recently stopped by our Sessions studio to perform his hit single, 'Break Anotha,' and four other songs from his debut album, 'Audio Day Dream,' or 'A.D.D.' as he calls it.

"'A.D.D.' was a concept from [my drummer] Kevin [Sawka] and I because he's way ADD and everyone thinks I'm ADD," Lewis explains. "So it just totally fit. We have too much fun. It's like a rock show, but we're performing pop and drum and bass, and different styles that we're all into. We all come from different backgrounds. We just all mesh together really well."

Colbie Caillat Mellows Out in Our Studio

Life's a beach for 22-year-old Colbie Caillat. Her debut album, 'Coco,' has won over scores of listeners with it's mellow melodies, while her summery hit single, 'Bubbly,' has taken over Top 40 radio. But the Malibu native hasn't let the success get to her head.

"It's really easy to stay grounded because my [of] band," Caillat tells PopEater during a recent performance in our studio. "I'm with them everyday, we're on the tour bus together and we're all such good friends. They're like my big brothers and we just constantly joke around and have fun together. If we have spare time, we like to relax, go to the beach [or] play music. It's easy, you just stay yourself and do what you love to do."

Watch Caillat's full four-song performance, including her reflective ballad, 'Realize,' after the jump.

Motion City Soundtrack Gets 'Real' in Our Studio

Motion City Soundrack's lead singer and guitarist Justin Pierre showed up at our L.A. studio recently with his signature vertical coif and dark-rimmed glasses, as he and the rest of MCS sat down to perform a few acoustic tracks off their third record, 'Even If It Kills Me.'

"I definitely think that there's still a few sad and depressing moments," Pierre told PopEater of the album, produced by the impressive trifecta of Ric Ocasek, Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) and Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys). "But, for the most part, it's a pretty upbeat and kind of happy sounding record." Case in point: this live rendition of the band's second single, 'This Is for Real.'

The Almost Bring 'Southern Weather' to New York

The Almost is the solo project from Aaron Gillespie, drummer for the Christian metal group Underoath. Yellowcard Find Themselves 'High and Dry'

Covers are tough by nature. It's a challenge for bands to put a fresh spin on an already great song, and they're nearly never an improvement on the original. Against the odds, Florida's Yellowcard pull off their rendition of Radiohead's 1995 hit 'High and Dry' with flying colors. Watch the same guys who belt out songs like 'Ocean Avenue' and 'Light Up the Sky' mellow out in a live version of the Radiohead classic.
