In the segment, which will air on Friday, Cruise struggles to find the right words before explaining that the "horrific" tragedy had little to do with Scientology's practices. "It's not true. It's actually the opposite. They say, 'Get your medication. Get your physical illnesses handled,'" Cruise explains.

According to police, Thomas got violent after the man who lived in the basement of her Detroit apartment had his TV too loud. The man alleged that Thomas "kicked open the door" to his apartment and attacked him, damaging some of his personal property in the process, Us reports.
