Can Good Looking Men in Good Looking Roles Win the Oscar?

(Nov. 21) - Actresses who hope to win an Academy Award often times downplay their movie star looks for a part -- and it seems the same can be said for men.

Tom O'Neill of Gold Derby believes that Hugh Jackman's chances at taking home Oscar gold for 'Australia' are slim, since the actor was just named PEOPLE's sexiest men alive and the part Jackman plays is somewhat of an Outback hunk.

O'Neill points out that George Clooney only won an Oscar when he tacked on a few pounds for 'Syriana,' but lost when he returned to his natural good looks for 'Michael Clayton.'

Furthermore, Javier Bardem was made to look like Suri Cruise in the role that won him the best supporting actor trophy.

Can the same be said for Jackman? Have his Oscar chances been dashed by his sexiness?
