God Bless his family. Everyone can speculate and judge, no one truly knows the medical condition that he was diagnosed with, or the cause of death in it's actuality. This is as it should be, it is no one's business but the families. IF Jett had a syndrome that caused seizures, and IF Jett died as a result of the same and IF Jett was untreated as the medical field would see fit....There were 16 wonderful years of a child that was abviously loved and cared for. There were 16 years, of a child not subjected to the side effects of the next miracle drug, that will soon appear on the next lawsuits. Everyone reads the garbage, and responds en force. True Pavlovian response to a situation that does not deserve it.

Having tooken Depakote and five or six other failed medications I had to be careful around warm water and did have a couple siezures after getting out of shower.Any cold, asthma or other breathing problems could have triggered a siezure but I'm sure if Jett were hear he would tell his mom and Dad not to blame themselves it was nobody's fault. Liver failure, inactiive thyroid, knee problems come after falling enough times and you don't know where or how your going to land or if your going to come out of the siezure. The look on your loved ones face and the scare you put into them is actually worse then the pain you go through. I feel horrible for the Travolta's and you both have my deepest sympathy.

If I found someone dead or unconscious on a bathroom floor my FIRST impression would be a that a head injury caused death or unconsciousness.

JinxAgain3 - I read where Kawasaki Syndrome does not cause siezures.>>>>While seizures are associated with specific diseases, injuries and medical conditions, some occur for unknown reasons (idiopathic). Jett had several health problems in his first couple of years of life; asthma, seizures and Kawasaki disease (look up the 2003 interview Kelly did with Montel). I don't know if the seizures started before, after, or during the Kawasaki. Kelly did talk about Jett's fever going to 105 degrees, so he was at risk for febrile seizures. Seizures in Kawasaki is a less common (rare) occurrence and research is going on the last 5 years seems to indicate that in some cases the covering of the brain (meninges) is inflamed (encephalitis) which causes the seizures. http://www.unboundmedicine.com/medline/ebm/record/18634413/full_citation /%5BSeizure_characteristics_in_Kawasaki_disease%5D

STUDBOYJOE -NO WHERE does it say HE HAD LIVER damage >>>"Jett took Depokate . . . They say "it began to cause serious physical damage" including damage to Jett's liver. And, Jett went back to having at least one seizure every four days. . . after consulting neurosurgeons, stopped administering the drug." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/02/jett-travolta-dies-son-of_n_154 877.htmlHe had suffered seizures from the age of two . . . Jett had been on a drug to stop the fits for some years but it was causing liver damage and after it was discontinued. . . http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24873896-5001021,00. html. . . after a while, the medicine became ineffective - and worse - caused liver damage. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/4123551/John- Travoltas-son-Jett-to-be-flown-home-for-burial.html

What is really sad given many of the posts is the fact that so many folks cannot accept the idea that death, even of a child, cannot always be prevented. For a socalled Christian nation, these same folks are not in any hurry to meet their maker.

having a child with autism, and Adhd we have been through alot of medication and still are trying to find something that will work for her.so far thank god she does not have seizures but they can start having them according to her doctors. So with my daughter having both disorders we have found it hard to find the right thing.if it help her one way it keeps her up all night ,and she will not eat.now they have found a spot on her brain.dont know for sure what it is but know it is not cancer.has something to do with blood flow. have family history of anurisms.

We do not KNOW if it was the neurologist who made the decision to stop the medication. The article I read stated" The parents were AFRAID of liver damage," NO WHERE does it say HE HAD LIVER damage or that it was the RECOMMENDATION of THE NEUROLOGIST to stop the drug!. Yes if he had gotten liver damage then it is appropriate to stop the medication. However that IS NOT WHAT WAS REPORTED!!! It said the PARENTS were afraid of the liver damage, not that it was present currently. THERFORE he should have been started on a new medication. Most seizure patients have to try several meds to find the one that works best for them, and after several tries or any severe side effects THEN you stop all meds!! One try is NOT appropriate. Poor Jett. If only he had parents willing to continue a search for the proper treatment. Very sad indeed. He looked like a sweet child.

you dont die from autism. Whether or not he was autistic...{and it looks like he was, cause so called Kawasakis disease does not have anything to do with mental abnormalities and the boy did have them and needed 2 attendents 24/7} you cant do much for autistic people other than labouriously therapize them into, hopefully, higher functioning behaviours. The seizures they frequently suffer are part of the syndrome and 30% of epilepsy sufferers do not respond to treatment. And drugs can also have side effects that scare parents...my sons Topomax warns of glacoma, bladder cancer and male lactation, I kid you not. Thimnk Im comfortable with that??? but we made our choice, and thank god he is seizure free for three years.God bless the Travoltas.
