Kate Winslet Isn't Brushing Off New Airbrushing Claims

(Nov. 4) - Think that Kate Winslet looked great in her new Vanity Fair photo spread? The multiple Oscar nominee did too and she's speaking out against critics that say her great shape is nothing more than the work of photo editing trickery.
Several papers in Britain have gone to great lengths in extensive articles to say that Vanity Fair doctored the photos of Winslet for their new issue.

Now her rep is speaking out. "Kate is furious at suggestions that her body has been airbrushed," says a spokesperson for the actress, according to PEOPLE.
In one report from the Telegraph, a digital retouching expert is brought in to discuss the photos. "The first place to look is under the eyes, because whether you're two or 92 you have darkness there, and the pictures of Kate have none. There's certainly no sign of acne either. It definitely looks like there has been a bit of work done."
Winslet's publicist told the Telegraph that there had been skin tone correction but no airbrushing, while a Vanity Fair spokesperson told the paper that there was only "a minimal amount of retouching."
The Daily Mail took the analysis one step further, bringing in an airbrush artist to break down the photos area by area.
His analysis:
The face: "There is no real detail in her face. Any detail or wrinkles have been removed. There are no eye bags, contours and smile lines. The whites of her eyes have been cleaned up and are now a really clean, crisp white. I'd say her lips have possibly been made slightly fuller as well."
The skin: "Her skin has generally been retouched all over so she has no lines or blemishes at all. Her skin is completely perfect."
The hands and feet: "There are no wrinkles or lines or veins on her hands and feet and this just is not natural."
The figure: "Her back and lower body have been pinched in to make her look thinner and to give her some curves. Her bottom has been rounded off so it looks nice and pert. I would be very surprised if her bottom was like that naturally. Her thigh appears to have been made slimmer so it appears more toned. And in the shot of her sitting down on the front cover, it's possible her legs were made slightly thinner so they also appear more toned."
Winslet has been caught in the middle of a photo controversy before, apologizing after Britain's GQ ran photos of the actress that were altered to make her appear slimmer.
"I just didn't want people to think I was a hypocrite and that I'd suddenly lost 30 lbs. or whatever. So I just came out and said, 'Look, I don't look like that'. I'm not mad at the magazine, but I have no intention of looking like that," said Winslet about the GQ pics.

Perhaps you should read your own post again. You speak as if you, as a photographer, are the only person who knows that pictures in ads, of celebs, etc. are touched and re-touched. And, you call everyone else in here names...i.e. nitwit,haters...open your eyes, and so on. That reeks of arrogance. Not to mention being"one of the best in the buisiness". Kc.

Ok I see that the numbskull below me obviously is illiterate because my ealier blog had absolutely NOTHING to do with focusing on me. Read it again, smarticus, and if u can't, then ask the rider on the short bus sitting next to you to read it to you. And I think you already know what you can do with the totem pole, my friend. :)

Most people don't realize another deception that is very prevalent. When you listen to a CD, you are listening to what happens AFTER the sound tech finishes with it. There are computer programs that pull voices that are flat or sharp back on pitch, and have the ability to copy and paste an entire chorus that's why so many times when you hear them live, they don't sound the same, or in some cases just suck. I've seen people who are totally off key be brought back to pitch with the push of a button. It isn't just pictures, it's voices too. So a picture being airbrushed to make someone look better is no different than what we hear on the radio ever time we turn it on.

Obama was not airbrushed. He laid the pancake makeup on thick. He laid the b.s. on thick. He and his preacher and his friends hate America and now he's president elect. All because people's brains have been airbrushed by watching too much t.v., American Idol, and movies loaded with C.G.

Except for the photographers in this blog who are speaking intelligently, you guys see this EVERY DAY, and why they decided to pick in Kate Winslet is beyond me. I am a photographer as well and one of the best retouch artists in the business and trust me folks, it pays WELL!!! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY IT SELLS. Which is the reason MILLIONS of you haters even BUY the MAGAZINES, MOVIES, POSTERS, CARS AND EVEN FOOD THAT you purchase. Yes people that's right I SAID FOOD, EVERYTHING in commercial print gets its share of enhencements. If u don't believe me, go look at the next HAMBURGER AD and then go order it at that restaurant and see if it looks as juicy and tender as it did in the article. GET A CLUE HATERS, SHE IS BEAUTIFUL regardless, just as that HAMBURGER is tasty in real life, that car you saw with a chromatic shine in the magazine does not look like that everyday sitting in your garage. Open you eyes and quit focusing on crap that is not gonna stop you nitwits from indulging into in a...
