(Dec. 3) - The brother of actor Mark Ruffalo is clinging to life following what is being described as an "execution-style shooting" to his head.

Scott Ruffalo, 39, was found in his Beverly Hills apartment early Monday morning and since then has been in intensive care at a Los Angeles-area hospital, sources tell the New York Post. According to a report in PEOPLE , the shooting took place at approximately 1:40 a.m.

The actor's spokeswoman says there is "an on-going police investigation" into the incident, but declined to give any further information on Ruffalo's condition. Police sources tell TMZ it looks like a "suspicious shooting."

Scott Ruffalo has worked as a hairdresser at salons in and around Santa Monica and Beverly Hills since acquiring his cosmetology license in 1991. He is married to Luzelena Ruffalo, and the couple have a stepdaughter, Lucinda.

Mark Ruffalo, 41, has starred in various films, including "13 Going on 30," "Zodiac" and "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind." He was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor in 2002, but following surgery has since recovered and has thrived in Hollywood. He nex stars in "The Brothers Bloom," co-starring Adrian Brody and Rachel Weisz.

Both brothers hail from Kenosha, Wis.

I really am saddened by the number of people who will just brush this off as a "drug deal gone bad" or something similar, as though that is justification for a man being nearly killed. If this were a near-fatal car accident, I'll bet that the comments here would become ones of support, not hatred or judgment. My heart goes out to Mr. Ruffalo and his family, and I sincerely hope that his brother will survive his injuries with as little brain damage as possible.
