Fishinsolitude 11:35 PMNov 18 2008 Who cares?Never heard of her and it makes no differance to me what she says. Sure not going to get upset over what she said anyway. She's no one to me.LOL. If you've never heard of her and it makes no difference as to what she says, what are you doing reading her information and posting on it? Seems to me if you truly don't care about her, you spent an inordinate amount of time reading and posting about a comment she made. You should only have the success in your chosen career as she's had in hers. That certainly doesn't make her an expert on law, but since she's been a rape victim, she brings more credibility to the table than you do. Having served 25 years as a police sergeant (and detective), my opinion is that Ms. Mirren is right on target on her views of women on rape juries. I guess Great Britain is much like the United States on this. Ask any attorney--the defense wants women on the jury of a rape suspect; the prosecution wan...

AngelFire1st 03:05 AMNov 18 2008 THIS DAMN WOMEN DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE HECK SHE IS TALKING ABOUT.. I WOULD LIKE TO SLAP HER IN HER NASTY FACE... MAYBE SHE SHOULD BE RPAED THEN, IF SHE WERE, IT WOULD BE HER FAULT?... LOL, SHE MAYBE AN ACTRSSES , BUT SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE IIS TALKING ABOUT...!!!!I'd stop yelling if I were you. First off, if you've never worked in law enforcement or if you've never been attorney, back off. You're yelling out of emotion, not common sense and reality. The reality, unfortunately, is that Helen Mirren is correct. It may not be right (and it's not) but it's correct. Women tend to prejudge other women--it's not a slam, it's a fact at least when it comes to rape. I'm not saying all women will do that (of course, not all will) but it's so prevalent that defense attorneys want women on the jury, and the prosecution doesn't. Just pray that if you're ever raped and go to court, the jury selection will be 12 men. You stand a much better chance...

THIS LADY NEEDS TO KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT & HER LEGS CROSSED.. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO VIOLATE ANOTHER PERSON IN ANY WAY & HER COMMENT IS SO STUPID I DON'T BELIEVE SHE EVEN GAVE IT ANY THOUGHT SHE JUST SAID WHATEVER SHE COULD TO BRING ATTENTION TO HERSELF & IT IS WORKING. IT'S NOT WETHER YOUR A MAN OR A WOMAN ON THE JURY IT IS THE PERSON WHO MAKES THE CALL ON THE INFO ON THE CASE, ANYONE THAT IS GONNA BE ON THE JURY SHOULD ALL GET SOME TYPE OF SERIOUS MENTAL EVALUATION -NOT JUST A FEW QUESTIONS, THIS IS A PERSON LIFE THEY ARE HOLDING IN THEIR HANDS WETHER IT BE THE VICTIM OR ACCUSED,GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY OF THE CRIME IT IS A VERY SENSITIVE SUBJECT AS IS SOME OTHER TYPE OF CRIMES.

This is exactly the kind of stupidity that drives me nuts! I know 99% of you wont be reading this so I'm going to ramble! In college the first thing I learned was if reading a news or magazine article always consider this: "Is the source credible?" Young people today read something in the magazines or online and assume it's "The Written Truth" Come on!!!! She is a freakin actress she is not a psychologist or a specialist in picking juries. THIS IS HER OPINION.This is not even an issue to talk about. Our news outlets today confuse people. They hear or read something from these "National Enquirer" type news programs and they assume since it made it out in to the publics ears IT's GOT TO BE TRUE! I'll repeat what my professor said 'Is your source credible???" Then consider wasting your time, discussing it. Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience

It has nothing to do with Mirren being older or from a conservative country, it is the truth!!! Women are so closed minded when it comes to rape and convicting someone. Serve on a jury just once and you will understand!!!!

Taraterm2 there is no truth to that, whatsoever. First off, Mirren did not say it was the females fault, she said other females portray it as such to justify the males action and relieve him of culpability. Furthermore, a female could be piss drunk and naked in the middle of the street and she is not "asking for" anything other than charges for public drunkenness and indecent exposure. The male who takes it upon himself to violate her body is the only guilty person involved. Do not blame the females state of coherency or undress for her violation, blame the perpetrators willful act of sexual violation because it IS a legitimate attack on said female. People should stop focusing on the handful of false rape cases that have made it to court & the spotlight and start focusing on the fact that less than 1/4 of all rapes are ever reported to the police and even fewer make it beyond a police report.

What Mirren said is true. In class we learned that not only do you not want most females on the jury in a rape case, you specifically do not want fat women because they are particularly unsympathetic to the violations of fellow females. It doesn't matter if such statements offend people, they are statistically valid. Females are ingrained from birth with the notion that all other females are competition, we are pitted against each other in many areas, needlessly. If we could only see that we do not elevate ourselves by degrading each other, that only males benefit from our mutual dislike and that holding others back essentially holds us back as well... females could finally become truly liberated equals.
