Swayze Rips Into 'Reckless' Tabloids

(Dec. 2) -- Patrick Swayze is one happy guy as he fights pancreatic cancer, but he's got some major beef with the tabloids slinging false rumors about his health.

In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, Swayze says he's "happy to be back home for the holidays" after working on his show, 'The Beast,' and says that the "only thorn" in his side is the tabloids "consistently reporting lies and false information" about his health.

Swayze, responding to recent unconfirmed tabloid reports claiming that his cancer has spread, tells PEOPLE that "they're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family!" He goes on to say it's "upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I'm fighting. For me, my family, and those close to me, it amounts to downright emotional cruelty. That makes me angry when hope is so precious."

Swayze says that "pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. It's a battle, and so far, I've been winning. I'm one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment."

The 56-year-old actor thanks everyone who's contributed positivity, saying he appreciates "all the love and support people have sent and continue to send my way. I thank you."

court ship 1 do you realize how much mail she gets every day?? she still may respond. Besides that, have you gone to her show website and requested tickets for her show, it says you may not be able to get them for a long time. I can't believe you are whining over this, like you are the ONLY person who wrote to her in the last month and she is just not answering YOU!!!!!!

COURTSHIP1, are you not aware of the fact that Ms.Ray (and other celebrities) does not plow through all the mail she receives? How silly of you to think getting no response to your request for free tickets should be laid at her feet. If you want your mother to see her why not spring for tickets your self instead of whining about not getting a freebie!

I think that Patrick Swayze is a great guy, Don't give it! And I don't like RachelRay, just don't like her. She doesn't appeal to me. I don't know what thefuss is about. She is a lucky women to be where she is.
