(Oct. 28) - If Zac Efron was worried about being typecast as a dancing teen, he sure isn't showing it.
Efron, fresh off the $42 million dollar opening weekend of 'High School Musical 3' now plans to put on his dancing shoes again for a remake of the 1984 hit 'Footloose.'

Variety reports that director Kenny Ortega, who helmed all three 'HSM' flicks, will pair up with Efron on the film, fast tracked to start filming in the spring.
Variety reports that 'Footloose' will be aimed at an older audience and Efron -- as part of a deal said to be around seven figures -- will have script approval.
No other prominent cast members have been announced, but the biggest question isn't who will slip into roles played by Lori Singer, Chris Penn and John Lithgow but whether Kenny Loggins' title song will have a prominent role on the soundtrack.

it is a crime to redo a classic such as this, no matter who it is. Since he has script approval lets just hope he doesn't hack it up too much.

Another remake of a classic? Somebody with some clout in the movie or publishing business please ask me about my story ideas and screenplays...Sci-Fi, Western Adventure, Time Travel plots I got all three and can provide samples but only to legit interested parties who might like to have a new twist on the old genres.

There are no good fresh new ideas left out there.. Seems like everything has already been thought of.. Even music. Listen to the crap of today.. Most is samplings from yesteryear, where people actually had a BRAIN to come up with ORIGINAL stuff.. Sickening, I weep for the children of the world, they missed out on some really good stuff. The crap they're fed today? Uggh..

I have 8 screenplays out there. All fresh ideas. There are other writers with great ideas also so why is Hollywood wasting their money? Ugh.........frustrating.

There are thousands of writers out there writing new stuff and STILL they insist on re-hashing old cult movies. I mean, Footloose was and is still a great movie, but can't we have something else original? Anyone out there who thinks there are no new ideas in Hollywood is wrong - there ARE new ideas, but the Hollywood money people who fund projects aren't interested in original. That's why all the really quirky original movies go indie and then stun people with how great a movie can be on a really small budget. We need original stories please, not re-makes all the time, and a lot less CGI in some of the other movies too!
