(Nov. 20) - Britney Spears' 90 minute documentary, 'For The Record,' takes fans on a whirlwind journey into the pop singer's life -- as she finally sets the record straight about her train wreck year and how she's picking up the pieces. While the candid footage includes humor (like the clip below), it is obvious that Spears' life is a well-oiled machine, and she barely has control.

Britney Spears Impersonates Her Dad

Starting with her 2008 Video Music Awards appearance, the documentary follows Spears' crew closely. With Larry Rudolph and her father Jamie Spears constantly on hand, her life and career are planned like a intricate dance number. Spears stands back as her assistants plan her day and tell her where she'll be going. "When I tell them the way I feel, it's like they hear me, but they're really not listening," she says.

Aside from her daily life, Spears dives into her past, even bringing up former beau Justin Timberlake. She admits her break-up with Timberlake was the beginning of her downward fall.

"Justin was part of my magnitude. When he was gone, what was left?... I became lonely," Spears says. She details how she started trusting people, who were bad for her, but she was too lonely to see their damaging influence.

While she was able to move on from the "devastating" Timberlake break-up, her relationship with Kevin Federline was the final breaking point. She mentions that once Federline started working on his album, 'Playing With Fire,' he would "do things for himself, and I never saw him. Things got weird," she recalls.

"I didn't want to face the reality [of the divorce], so I just ran," Spears said. She began to make herself busy, creating her "dream home" in Los Angeles for her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. She chose to avoid dealing with their broken relationship and just "kept going."

While Spears appears to have the world at her fingertips, the fragile singer finally breaks down and cries, "I'm sad."

Spears says her life is "too in control... there's no passion, no excitement... it's really boring." Even though she's busy promoting the release of her album, 'Circus,' she admits she's scared because the success she sees now "might get taken away, so I decide to feel nothing."

Even during her promotional trip to New York City, Spears confronts the choices of her past while chatting about the city's allure with cast members from Broadway's 'In The Heights.'

"I lived in New York for two years," so coming back to the city is a "fantasy." She hesitates, with sadness in her eyes, as she tells them she'll never be able to live in the city again because "her babies' daddy still lives in L.A."

Chained to her past, Spears says, "Even when you go to jail, you know, there's the time when you're gonna get out. But in this situation, it's never ending. It's just like 'Groundhog Day'... I'm having to pay for it for a really long time."

She adds that because of the media's constant scrutiny, she'll never be seen in the same light again. "I use to be a cool chick... but that vibe has been taken away."

'Britney Spears: For The Record' will air on Nov. 30 on MTV.

Britney should be so thankful her parental rights weren't terminated; like a lot of parents are. Like "someone" I know: who was diagnosed bi polar, took the medicine she was prescribed, did everything on the "service plan" and her parental rights were terminated, along with her husband's. The commissioner on the case said neithe parent was 'bonded' to the child. that was bulls@@@t.And these parents have no where near the amt of money that Britney has. So, Britney, if you are reading this, please thank God each and every night that you have access to your children,can see them, hug and kiss them. bECAUSE THERE ARE ALOT OF PARENTS WHO CAN'T...

Its difficult to feel sympathy for someone that CHOSE the lifestyle she's chosen. She chose to use her talents for a career, became successful very young......no doubt her parents controlled everything so tightly as a kid that she never learned to be on her own, to make good choices, to only surround herself with TRUSTED people. To live in that fishbowl out in California, surrounded by paparazzi and unsavory characters (including male 'friends') no wonder she isn't happy. Her happiness may lie in being a famous singer with a career......take your money and go find the PEACE you're searching for.
