David Archuleta Isn't Ready for Broadway

(Jan. 13) - While some 'American Idol' contestants have used their fame to launch their careers on Broadway, David Archuleta says he's not going to be one of them. Archuleta would rather focus on his music career than follow in the footsteps of Broadway bound Idols like Clay Aiken or Fantasia Barrino, he exclusively told PopEater.

"I never really thought about [performing on Broadway.] I am more about performing and doing music," Archuleta said."Maybe my tastes will change but not right now," he added.

Instead Archuleta gushed about performing an intimate concert at New York's Hard Rock Cafe. "I'm so excited," Archuleta said. Honored to be performing in the same venue as music's greatest legends, he added, "It's a cozy setting, so it will be a lot of fun."

Exclusive: David Archuleta's AOL Sessions

Drawing in hundreds of screaming fans for a private In Tune concert hosted by Bauer Teen Group, Archuleta was finally able to interact with his fanbase -- something that was difficult to do during the nationwide 'American Idol' tour. Even though he has temporarily given up sold-out arenas, Archuleta is excited things are starting to calm down. "It's really chill and laid back... I'm finally getting a chance to see my family and friends," he said.

Despite his quick breather in New York, he is already planning for the next step in his career. "We are working on my own tour... I'm excited about it because we did the 'American Idol' tour but it was not my own thing. It will be really exciting to see how that all goes," Archuleta said. While no dates have been released, he promises fans that they won't be disappointed.

Archuleta auditioned for 'American Idol' in July 2007 and starred as one of the top contestants on the show. He became the Season 7 runner-up, with his votes falling just short of his competitor, David Cook.

Bfreder576748I have heard David sing live with no studio magic and his voice is INCREDIBLE...WOW. If you listen to the many many YouTube vids of him singing LIVE at concerts you'll notice that his vocals are in no way manufactured. Even his AOL Sessions, they are live and yet some people questioned if they were live or not...why??? Because they said the vocals were too good to be live...Nope that's just how David sings. His voice FILLED the Allstate Arena in Chicago like no other at the American Idol tour concert. Even people who were wearing t-shirts from other contestants were saying..."Wow he is SOOOO talented, I had NO IDEA...." etc.

Why do you losers think he's gay? Oh wait, I know. He's gorgeous, charming, a true gentleman, family oriented, and has a wonderful God given gift...his voice. This young man is a superstar in the making. And if this makes him gay, so be it! But I really doubt it; he's just one of a kind, just what the musical world needs! Those of you who don't like him, well, you can just stay stupid then.

Sorry for the double post, it said it didn't go through..... Anyways, FREDDIE MERCURY proves my point, that gay guys can outsing straight dudes. He was the BEST EVER! I still am not convinced he is though, since he is still a teenager, whereas Clay was already 25 years old on 'Idol' so it was more obvious he was finished maturing, while David A. may get 'muy macho', as they say.

i don't know if he is gay or not, but if he IS, it just proves that they are the most talented people who oftentimes have the more versatile vocals and more range than straight guys do, just like Clay Aiken proved!

David A is one of the cutest guys to come down the pike in a long time. Unless you can compete with him, don't slander him. He has a voice, personality, gentleness, and a host of other good qualities. What do those of you who slander him have. You have nothing or you would be too busy to post such garbage. GET A LIFE

HE IS NOT GAY! Why do people think this? Just because he is kind and a sensitive? Have you had a gay relationship with David that gievs you the right to proove your accusatuins that he is gay? I doubt it and I know you have not because David is not gay and I know this for sure!
