Jennifer Hudson Is Telling You: No Truth to Label Rift

(Sept. 30) - Jennifer Hudson says there is no truth to the rumor that Arista Records wasn't pleased with the initial direction of her debut album, which drops Tuesday. "There's a rumor that the album was scrapped," Hudson tells PopEater. "That was never the case. [The delay] is because I filmed three or four films in between recording the album. I don't believe in doing them both at the same time. If I'm filming, I'm filming and if I'm recording, I'm recording. I don't want to split my focus."
Hudson, a finalist on 'American Idol' in 2005, went on to win an Academy Award for her debut movie role as Effie White in the musical 'Dreamgirls.' She next appeared as Louise, Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) assistant in the 'Sex and the City' film, and as Kathy Archenault in the forthcoming drama 'Winged Creatures.'

Meanwhile, for her debut album, Hudson worked with various producers and songwriters, including Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Robin Thicke and famed songwriter Diane Warren. T-Pain, Ludacris and 2004 'Idol' winner Fantasia Barrino make feature appearances.
"Everyone knows Effie and Louise," she says, "but no one has a sense of Jennifer and who I am."
Hudson hopes to squander that, though she admits she didn't write any of the album's material. "I didn't write for this album, but I do write and I do plan to start writing songs," she says. "I'm trying to focus on films and then, OK, I have to do the music. I don't have time to write music, too. Let someone else do that."

I've been waiting on the album since American Idol, I hope she does another one with all blues, the girl can sing.

Fantasia a no talent - boy are you WRONG. Tell it to Broadway where she has been quite successful and oh yeah, she has learned to read. Her rendition of Summertime is still a favorite.

I think that Jennifer is extremely talented. I was blown away when she was booted from AI. Never in my wildest dreams did I think she would be such a wonderful actress. She was great as Effie and her singing was BIG. I cannot wait to purchase her album. She has a real future in the business - despite what some of you think. She is doing exactly what she wanted and success has come to her in all forms.
