Not many 21-year-olds can say they've scored two No. 1 songs. Jesse McCartney, however, can.
The pop sensation, whose single 'Leavin'' is currently sitting atop the charts, scored a smash when he wrote 'Bleeding Love' for Britain's 'X-Factor' winner Leona Lewis. 'Bleeding Love' yielded a No. 1 hit in 28 countries and was the biggest-selling UK single of 2007.
"It was a dream come true as far my writing career," McCartney tells PopEater of the hit. "I got in the studio and I was working with [One Republic's] Ryan Tedder. We just started jamming out in the studio and one of the songs that we wrote was 'Bleeding Love.' I think collectively we decided it would sound better with a female vocalist and it wasn’t really right for this album. Four or five months later, somehow Clive Davis got his hands on it with Simon Cowell. Obviously, when those two get their hands on anything it usually seems to work out. I hadn’t even heard of Leona but they were like, 'We wanna use it as the first single.' Three months later, we heard about all the success. It was mind blowing. It’s still overwhelming."
Needless to say, McCartney did finally get the chance to meet the girl behind the vocal. "I met her a few weeks back at this lounge," he recalls. "I just ran into her. It was perfect. It was one of those, 'Hey, how you doing?' It was perfect. We had a drink. She's sweet as pie -- an absolute sweetheart."
